Field of certification or "FoC" means an approach to certifying laboratories by those matrix, technology/method, and analyte/analyte group analyte combinations for which DCLS offers certification.

Field of certification means a unit by which the department grants or recognizes certification to a laboratory. There are 2 types of fields of certification, each consisting of 3 tiers: matrix-analytical technique- analyte or analyte group, and matrix-method-analyte or analyte group.
