Fish guard definition

Fish guard means a device installed at or near a surface water diversion headgate, or on the intake of any device used for re- moving water from fish-bearing waters, to prevent entrainment, im- pingement, injury, or death of fish life. Fish guards physically keep fish from entering the diversion or intake and do not rely on avoid- ance behavior.
