Hermano/hermana definition

Hermano/hermana means "brother/sister" in Spanish. The expression arose in the 1960s, during the military dictatorships establishments in South America, in which there was a lot of cooperation between "las naciones hermanas", or "sister nations" in English. The term sticked and nowaday is usually used by Brazilians in the Spanish form to designate a latin-american citizen in a friendly way.
