Nursing students may be at risk for exposure to bodily fluids, environmental hazards, and physical injury during their education. Students should be aware that any exposure or injury could adversely affect student overall health and performance in the nursing program. Any expense incurred by the student in connection with the exposure or injury, is the responsibility of the student.

Procedure: • After instruction of medication calculation and administration content in each of the theory/clinical courses, students will have a competency assessment. • Medication calculation and administration competency must be demonstrated (as evidenced by an 88%) prior to the conclusion of the course. • If a student is unsuccessful, remediation with the faculty member in the Health Professions Skills and Simulation Center must occur prior to a subsequent attempt. • The competency assessment may be retaken.
