Least restrictive definition

Least restrictive means that which places the least pos- sible restriction on personal liberty and the exercise of rights and that promotes the greatest possible integration of an individual into his or her community that is consistent with meeting his or her essential requirements for health, safety, habilitation, treatment, and recovery and protecting him or her from abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
Least restrictive means a course of action that allows the individual to live, learn, and work in a setting that places as few limits on the individual's rights and personal freedoms as appropriate to meet the needs of the individual.
Least restrictive means treatment and conditions of treatment that, separately and in combination, is no more intrusive or restrictive of freedom than reasonably necessary to achieve a substantial therapeutic benefit or to protect the child or others from physical injury.
