Least restrictive environment definition

Least restrictive environment means the environment in which the interventions in the lives of people with mental illness can be carried out with a minimum of limitation, intrusion, disruption, and departure from commonly accepted patterns of living.
Least restrictive environment means the surrounding circumstances that provide as little intrusion and disruption from the normal pattern of living as possible.
Least restrictive environment means a supervised community placement, preferably a placement with the juvenile's parent, guardian, relative, or a facility or conditions of treatment that is a residential or institutional placement only utilized as a last resort based on the best interest of the juvenile or for reasons of public safety.
