On April 16, 2002, the Mayor and City Council adopted CMR 02-060 which requires City projects to achieve the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED silver standard for all new buildings and major renovations over 5,000 square feet.
Specifically, retail, hotel, community facility and office buildings will be designed and constructed to achieve LEED silver certification pursuant to the LEED rating system that is most appropriate under Local Law 86 (see Section 10-02 of chapter 10 of title 43 of the Rules of the City of New York).
