Major Medical Plan definition

Major Medical Plan or “comprehensive plan” means a health benefits plan, other than a limited benefits plan, that provides fully-insured, expense-based coverage, including a short-term, limited duration plan; a qualified health plan; a managed health care plan; a student health plan or a high-deductible or catastrophic plan.
Major Medical Plan means any one of the following types of policies or plans which provide benefits for Hospital Confinement for a Covered Person on his or her effective date of coverage, and such policy or plan requires a Covered Person to pay a Deductible and/or portion of Coinsurance: group or blanket insurance plans; group Blue Cross, Blue Shield, or other group prepayment coverage plans; coverage under labor-management trusteed plans, union welfare plans, employer organizational plans, employee benefit organizational plans, or other arrangements of benefits for persons of a group. “Major Medical Plan” does not include Medicare or Medicaid.
Major Medical Plan. As used in this Agreement, the term "Major Medical Plan" shall mean the Spreckels Industries Major Medical Plan for Retirees and Eligible Dependents.

Examples of Major Medical Plan in a sentence

  • Entitlement to Alberta Health Care and the Voluntary Major Medical Plan benefits continue to the end of the month in which the employee was laid off.

  • Unit employees who are laid off, at the time of layoff, may elect to continue enrollment in the Group Basic and Major Medical Plan (or alternative plan) by paying the full amount (100%) of the premium.

  • Unit employees who are granted a leave of absence may elect to continue enrollment in the Group Basic and Major Medical Plan (or alternative plan) at the time the leave begins.

  • The County shall maintain a Comprehensive Major Medical Plan that will include deductibles, co-pay amounts, co-insurance levels, in-network benefits, out-of- network benefits, and other participant payment responsibilities customarily found in Comprehensive Major Medical Plans.
