Materials or Substances definition

Materials or Substances means all elements, compounds, substances, matrices or mixtures that are hazardous, toxic, ignitable, reactive or corrosive.
Materials or Substances shall have the meaning ascribed thereto in the definition of Hazardous or Toxic Substances.

  • Materials of Environmental Concern any gasoline or petroleum (including crude oil or any fraction thereof) or petroleum products or any hazardous or toxic substances, materials or wastes, defined or regulated as such in or under any Environmental Law, including asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls and urea-formaldehyde insulation.

  • Harmful substance means any substance which, if introduced into the sea, is liable to create hazards to human health, to harm living resources and marine life, to damage amenities or to interfere with other legitimate uses of the sea, and includes any substance subject to control by the present Convention.

  • Hazardous Materials Claims means any enforcement, cleanup, removal or other governmental or regulatory action or order with respect to the Property, pursuant to any Hazardous Materials Laws, and/or any claim asserted in writing by any third party relating to damage, contribution, cost recovery compensation, loss or injury resulting from any Hazardous Materials.

  • Chemical substance means a substance intended to be used as a precursor in the manufacture of a controlled substance or any other chemical intended to be used in the manufacture of a controlled substance. Intent under this subsection may be demonstrated by the substance's use, quantity, manner of storage, or proximity to other precursors or to manufacturing equipment.

  • Toxic Substance includes but is not limited to asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and lead-based paints.

  • Friable asbestos material means any material that contains more than 1% asbestos by weight and that can be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder when dry, by hand pressure.

Such situations may require immediate and expeditious action by an explosives or munitions emergency response specialist to control, mitigate, or eliminate the threat.

  • Spill means the release of manure, manure contaminated runoff, or process wastewater from the confines of an animal feedlot, manure storage area, manure transfer system, or other component used to collect, transfer, or store manure, manure contaminated runoff, or process wastewater that if not recovered would pollute waters of the state. Spill includes releases from activities associated with land application that do not comply with this Permit.

  • Hazardous Materials Activity means any past, current, proposed or threatened activity, event or occurrence involving any Hazardous Materials, including the use, manufacture, possession, storage, holding, presence, existence, location, Release, threatened Release, discharge, placement, generation, transportation, processing, construction, treatment, abatement, removal, remediation, disposal, disposition or handling of any Hazardous Materials, and any corrective action or response action with respect to any of the foregoing.

  • Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances or “PFAS” means a class of fluorinated organic chemicals containing at least one fully fluorinated carbon atom.

  • Hazardous Materials does not include products or materials that are commonly used in construction or industrial practice so long as they are used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions or Material Safety Data Sheets issued for the product or materials. (See Article 1.6.3 below.)

  • Substances means chemical elements and their compounds in the natural state or obtained by any production process, including any additive necessary to preserve the stability of the products and any impurity deriving from the process used, but excluding any solvent which may be separated without affecting the stability of the substance or changing its composition;
