medical defence organisation definition

medical defence organisation means a body corporate, or an unincorporated body, which provides professional indemnity insurance, on a discretionary or other basis, to a member of that body in relation to an incident of clinical negligence which gives rise to a claim against a member of that body;
medical defence organisation means an organisation that does not carry on activities for the purposes of making profits for distribution to its members or others that has amongst its objects the provision of professional indemnity cover, on a discretionary basis, for persons providing services as part of the NHS in England;
