Note 15. The wage rates of overtime pay and pay for work on rest day/contractual day-off shall not be less than 100% of the wage rates calculated based on the chosen monthly wages specified in the second box of Clause 3 of this Schedule, the number of normal working days plus paid rest days in the month and the average number of normal hours of work per day. The Guidance Notes explain the points to note when filling in the SEC and the Schedule. Before signing the SEC, the employer and the employee should read the contents of the SEC and these Guidance Notes thoroughly to ensure that both parties understand all the contents. The employer and the employee should refer to the Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57) for statutory provisions on employees’ rights and benefits. Please note that the Employment Ordinance only lays down the minimum requirements of employment terms. Employers and employees may enter into employment terms more favourable than those provided in the Employment Ordinance. They may also refer to the booklet “A Concise Guide to the Employment Ordinance” published by the Labour Department for reference.
Note 15. Notwithstanding the job description for General Trades, General Trades working for the Construction Department will comply in general with the trades jurisdictions of the separate trade classifications when employed on construction projects as determined by pre-job conferences. Sub-Foremen/women General Tradesmen/women and Foremen/women General Tradesmen/women will supervise the same numbers of employees in the same fashion as Sub-Foremen/women and Foremen/women in the electrical trades. While it is accepted that Sub-Foremen/women General Tradesmen/women and Foremen/women General Tradesmen/women will not directly supervise electrical Journeymen/women, there will be times when an electrical Journeyman/woman will come under the general supervision of a Sub-▇▇▇▇▇▇▇/woman or ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇/woman General Tradesman/woman. Note 15. One Principal Civil Engineer, Code 9489, when assigned to supervise the Structural Division in the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works, shall receive salary at the second premium level rate above the appropriate step rate of the salary prescribed for that class. Additional compensation is pensionable. Note 16: Effective January 1, 2008, any full-time employee hired as a Chief Veterinarian (Code 2360) in the Department of Animal Services shall, upon completion of six (6) months of successful City service, receive a one-time, lump sum payment of $1,000.00. Note 15. An employee who is appointed from a Civil Service eligible list or, receives an emergency appointment or a Charter Section 1014 transfer, to the class of Planning Aide, Code 7943, whose hourly rate of compensation immediately prior to such appointment is higher than the 5th step hourly rate for Planning Aide shall continue to receive compensation at the same hourly rate that the employee was receiving on the date prior to such appointment.
