Oral interpreting definition

Oral interpreting means the process of interpreting or transliterating a spoken message from a hearing person to a deaf or hard of hearing person, or from a deaf or hard of hearing person to a hearing person, excluding sign language interpreting, as follows:

Interpreters must be able to listen to an individual’s words, inflections, and intent and simultaneously render them into sign language using the mode of communication preferred by the Customer.
