Predictive Maintenance means the application of CBM (see definition), Monitoring or testing (including Unaided Testing) of assets for the purpose of early detection and elimination of equipment defects that could lead to unplanned downtime or unnecessary expenditures. Generally speaking, this type of Maintenance is conducted while the equipment is in normal operation, with little or no process interruption. The purpose of this type of Maintenance is to determine the condition of in-service equipment in order to predict when Maintenance should be performed.

Predictive Maintenance means a carefully planned system of machinery analysis and diagnostics that includes measurements that detect the onset of system or component degradation, thereby allowing casual stressors to be eliminated or controlled prior to any significant deterioration in the system’s or component’s physical state with the express goal of achieving optimum productivity, extended useful life, and reduced repair costs.

Predictive Maintenance means techniques which help determine the condition of in- service Equipment in order to predict when maintenance should be performed. This approach offers cost savings over routine or time-based preventive maintenance, because tasks are performed only when warranted. This approach also allows lower repair or rebuild maintenance prior to a more costly major failure and also avoids unplanned loss of redundancy.

Examples of Predictive Maintenance in a sentence

• For Injector and Monitor Products, Bayer will perform Predictive Maintenance within the first sixty (60) days of the effective date of the Agreement or within twelve (12) months from the last PM provided by Bayer, unless otherwise agreed.
