Pressing Necessity definition

Pressing Necessity is defined as any circumstance where an employee is called upon personally to do some act either in performance of a duty or in the protection of a right or necessity which the employee cannot reasonably do outside of duty hours.
Pressing Necessity leave must be taken in whole days.
Pressing Necessity means an unforeseen or emergent situation.

Examples of Pressing Necessity in a sentence

  • Requests for leave of absence for Pressing Necessity and/or Personal/Family Responsibilities shall be made in writing to the employee’s immediate supervisor.

  • A) Leave for Pressing Necessity is drawn from an employee’s sick leave balance and may be used for emergent and compassionate leave situations in accordance with the Collective Agreement and Employer’s policy on Pressing Necessity.

  • Pressing Necessity shall be defined as any circumstance of a sudden or unusual nature that could not by the exercise of reasonable judgment have been foreseen by the employee and which requires the immediate attention of the employee.

  • Leave for Pressing Necessity is drawn from an employee’s sick leave balance and may be used for emergent and compassionate leave situations.

  • Pressing Necessity time for permanent part-time staff shall be pro-rated to hours worked.

  • Definite leave includes: Maternity, Paternity, Sick Leave, Personal Leave, Education Leave, Pressing Necessity, and Bereavement, Workers' Compensation.

  • Subject to Appendix B of this Agreement, an employee with sufficient cause may be granted Family Responsibility and Pressing Necessity Leave with pay.

  • The application of Pressing Necessity leave shall include emergency attending to an employee’s sick child.

  • Additional days for Pressing Necessity Leave may be approved by the Director upon written request from the teacher.

  • Such leave may be for the purposes of Medical Care, Pressing Necessity, Family Obligations, Mental Health, or days important to employee’s based on religion, culture or ethnicity.
