Residential nursing care facilities selected from the SST lists and are considered to be safety-related inspections should include SST coding, but should not be considered an inspection under this NEP.
Residential nursing care may be necessary where:• there is a need for complex medical care• a hospital admission for urgent or emergency care results in ongoing nursing care• your own ill-health means you become unable to continue providing support• you have children or other dependants who also need your support• you do not have a personal or family network to help• changes to thinking and behaviour have caused the person with MND to become aggressive or a risk to themselves.
Residential nursing care may be required.• While some state benefits are available e.g. disability living allowance (DLA) and attendance allowance – these will not meet the costs of long term care.• From 8 April 2013 Personal Independence Payment (PIP) started to replace DLA, for people aged 16 to 64.
