shale gas definition

shale gas means natural gas
shale gas means natural gas contained in dense organic-rich rocks, including low permeability shales, siltstones and carbonates, in which the natural gas is primarily adsorbed on the kerogen or clay materials and that usually requires the use of hydraulic fracturing to achieve economic production rates.
shale gas means natural gas generated in-situ and retained in shale and associated fine grained rock matrix including carbonate stringers, adsorbed onto organic particles, or within fractures in shales of source rock origin and obtained there from through boreholes.
