Shift Work definition

Shift Work is defined as the same work performed by two or more employees or two or more successive sets or groups of employees working successive periods.
Shift Work means ordinary hours work done by separate relays of employees working recognised hours, receding, during or following the ordinary working hours of day workers.
Shift Work means any method of organizing work in shifts whereby workers succeed each other at the same workstations according to a certain pattern, including a rotating pattern, and which may be continuous or discontinuous, entailing the need for workers to work at different times over a given period of days or weeks.

  • Shift work may commence any day of the week between Monday and Friday.

Shift Work means any method of organising work in shifts whereby workers succeed each other at the same work stations according to a certain pattern, including a rotating pattern, and which may be continuous or discontinuous, entailing the need for workers to work at different times over a given period of days or weeks (definition of the directive 2003/88/EC).
Shift Work means work extending for at least 4 weeks and performed either in daily recurrent periods or in regular rotating periods within the limits defined for "Early Morning Shift" or "Afternoon Shift" or "Night Shift".
