Sixth Year definition

Sixth Year. Shall be defined as certification earned through successful completion by a Teacher with a Masters Degree of a planned program, at an accredited college or university, consisting of thirty (30) credits beyond such Masters Degree, at least eighteen (18) of which strengthen the ability of the teacher to bring a deeper understanding of the subject and are in subject or content type courses in one of the following areas and are either directly related to the Teacher's current regular assignment or, if not so related, are approved in writing in advance by the Superintendent: For Elementary Teachers For Secondary Teachers a. Sixth Year. The completion of thirty (30) credits beyond the Master's Degree in a degree program approved by an accredited college or university or a completed second Master's Degree.

Examples of Sixth Year in a sentence

  • The sixth year shall constitute a planned and approved (by the Superintendent) program at an accredited college or university resulting in the award of a Sixth Year Certificate or a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS), or a second master's degree.

  • Effective July 1, 2009, bargaining unit members with a sixty (60) credit Masters in Social Work (MSW) shall be placed on the Sixth Year salary schedule.

  • Sixth Year or A second master’s degree in a discipline other than the discipline Master’s +30 in which the initial master’s degree was attained, or a Sixth Year or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited college or university.

  • Effective September 12, 1986, separate Teacher salary schedules shall be established based upon the level of educational achievement in job-related course work: Bachelors degree; Masters degree or Bachelors plus 30 credits; and Sixth Year or Masters plus 30 credits.

  • New placements on the Sixth Year schedule shall require completion of a Sixth Year certificate program at an accredited college or university in areas mutually agreed by the Superintendent and the Association.

  • School Psychologists shall be placed on the Sixth Year pay schedule.

  • Teachers placed on the Sixth Year schedule prior to this 2013-2016 Agreement shall remain there and, to the extent provided by this Agreement, be eligible for step advancement.

  • All those who have at least thirty (30) semester hours of approved study beyond the Master’s Degree, sixty (60) hours of approved study beyond the Baccalaureate Degree, or who have a Sixth Year Certificate or two (2) Master’s Degrees shall be paid in accordance with the “6th Year” Column of the appropriate Schedule.

  • All those who have completed at least fifteen (15) semester hours of approved study beyond the Sixth Year Certificate or beyond two (2) Master’s Degrees, or seventy-five (75) semester hours beyond the Baccalaureate Degree or forty-five (45) semester hours beyond the Master’s Degree, shall be paid in accordance with the “6th Year + 15” Column of the appropriate Schedule.

  • Advancement to the Master's, Sixth Year, or Ph.D. salary schedule will be granted when a teacher submits a written statement from a responsible official of the graduate office of the college/university awarding the degree verifying completion of the requirements for the degree.

Sixth Year means:
Sixth Year means: (a) A second Master’s degree in a discipline other than the discipline in which the initial Master’s Degree was attained; or the completion of thirty (30) graduate credits completed after the attainment the Master’s degree in a program approved by an accredited college or university or a “Sixth Year Certificate” from an accredited college or university, both subject to the approval of the Superintendent; or (b) Any school speech and language pathologist, school social worker, school psychologist or school counselor, who earns a Master’s Degree that requires the completion of at least fifty (50) credits shall be placed on the Sixth-Year degree track of the salary schedule. This provision shall be applied prospectively only, beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.

Related to Sixth Year

  • First Year means the intake group of Students for the most junior class or year in a school.

  • Loan Year means each period of twelve (12) consecutive months commencing on the Closing Date and on each anniversary thereof.

  • Three-Year Period means, with respect to a Restatement, the three completed fiscal years immediately preceding the date that the Board, a committee of the Board, or the officer or officers of the Company authorized to take such action if Board action is not required, concludes, or reasonably should have concluded, that the Company is required to prepare such Restatement, or, if earlier, the date on which a court, regulator or other legally authorized body directs the Company to prepare such Restatement. The “Three-Year Period” also includes any transition period (that results from a change in the Company’s fiscal year) within or immediately following the three completed fiscal years identified in the preceding sentence. However, a transition period between the last day of the Company’s previous fiscal year end and the first day of its new fiscal year that comprises a period of nine to 12 months shall be deemed a completed fiscal year.

  • Income Year means any year or accounting period beginning 1 July of one calendar year and ending 30 June of the following calendar year or any other period that the Trustees by resolution adopt;

  • Month means calendar month.
