Smudge Fire definition

Smudge Fire means a fire confined to a non-combustible structure or container that has draft holes not larger than 5 millimeters in diameter and is covered with a heavy gauge metal screen of a mesh size not greater than 7 millimeters to contain sparks over the fire at all times, which is lit for the purpose of protecting livestock from insects or for protecting garden plants from frost and is fueled solely by dry wood or charcoal.
