Subsurface sewage disposal system or “system” means a system consisting of a building sewer, a septic tank followed by a leaching system, any necessary pumps or siphons, and any groundwater control system on which the operation of the leaching system is dependent. A subsurface sewage disposal system does not include an alternative sewage treatment system as defined by section 7-245(2) of the Connecticut General Statutes.
