Temperature blank definition

Temperature blank means a sample container, of at least 40 mL capacity, filled with water and transported with each shipment of collected samples to determine the temperature of other samples in the shipment on arrival at a laboratory.
Temperature blank means a sample container of at least 40 ml in volume which is filled with water and transported along with each batch of samples in order to determine the temper- ature of the samples at the time of receipt at the laboratory.
Temperature blank means a water sample which under- goes the same cooling procedure used for the samples for analysis, but which is only checked to determine the temperature of the samples upon arrival at the laboratory.

Examples of Temperature blank in a sentence

  • Temperature blank or cooler environment must be documented; sample container should not be used.In the site-specific QAPP Contractor Addendum or ACQAP, specific information must be given on how the samples will be shipped to the laboratory, indicating how sample or information handling and custody information should be documented, such as in field notebooks and forms, and identifying the individual responsible for this (See Appendix B).

  • Temperature blank: A temperature blank is added to each sample cooler.

  • Temperature blank samples will accompany each cooler that contains samples with a temperature preservative requirement.

  • NOTE: The Temperature blank is not analyzed and it will not be combined with a sample that is intended to be analyzed.

  • Temperature blank measurements will also be obtained for each cooler transported to the laboratory.

  • To package samples for shipping, the following supplies are advisable: ▪ Sturdy plastic or metal coolers without spouts or spouts taped shut, ▪ Resealing plastic bags of various sizes, ▪ Ice or cooling units, ▪ Temperature blank, ▪ Cushioning packing material, such as bubble wrap, ▪ Clear strapping tape, ▪ Warning labels (e.g.’ This side up’, ‘Fragile’), ▪ Shipping labels, ▪ Waterproof ink pen.
