Temporarily disabled definition

Temporarily disabled means inability to perform the duties of the teacher. The opinion of a second physician may be requested by the employer at its expense. Further certification may be required by the employer from time to time.
Temporarily disabled means a physical inability to perform all of the duties of the teacher. Such doctor's statement shall also include the nature of the disability, treatment being rendered, treatment schedule if applicable and prognosis for a return to work. Further certification may be required by the employer from time to time. All medical information concerning an applicant shall be held in strict confidence.
Temporarily disabled is defined as an injury/illness which requires a recovery period of more than three (3) days (2 shift days for fire shift personnel) but less than three (3) months (30 shift days for fire shift personnel). Injuries/illnesses requiring less than three (3) days (2 shift days) recovery time are not covered by this agreement. In the event an injury/illness requires more than three (3) months (30 shift days) recovery time, additional procedures and laws may apply in determining whether modified work is appropriate. In such cases, the available options will be discussed with the employee and the Union. Modified work assignments apply to the following situations:

  • Temporarily disabled students may receive individual instruction based on an agreement between the district and parent stating that independent study is an alternative to home and hospital instruction.
