Tennessee Promise definition

Tennessee Promise a program that is both a scholarship and mentoring program focused on increasing the number of students that attend post high school education in the state. It provides students a last-dollar scholarship, meaning the scholarship will cover tuition and fees not covered by other financial aid. Students may use the scholarship at any of the state’s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology, or other eligible institution offering an associate’s degree program. The NE department head has volunteered as a mentor to become more knowledgeable and involved with the opportunities this program offers and has developed partnerships to benefit the NRC scholarship program. UTNE has developed a partnership with Pellissippi State Technical Community College (PSTCC) to build a pipeline program with the community college technical programs. , PSTCC , is our main contact and recruits top students that she feels would be successful in our program. We use the NRC scholarship along with departmental scholarships to recruit top students into nuclear engineering. Additionally, the department has reached out to all technical community colleges in the state to display our recruiting poster and make their students aware of the need for nuclear trained engineers and of the opportunities at UTNE. We feel these relationships will grow and prosper over the years.
