Verbal Reprimand definition

Verbal Reprimand. The immediate supervisor will hold a private conference with the employee. They will outline the nature of the problem and listen to any comments from the employee. The immediate supervisor will indicate compliance with specified procedures or cessation of certain conduct is required and future consequences if directives are ignored;
Verbal Reprimand means a verbal discussion with the employee during which the supervisor notifies him or her of the nature of the violation, the corrective action necessary, and the consequences of future violations, and obtains the employee's commitment to corrective action. The supervisor may document the verbal reprimand in the departmental files. A verbal reprimand or counseling is normally the first step involving minor infractions of rules. (Note: By its nature, a verbal reprimand or counseling is informal and may be given without a predisciplinary hearing and without union representation.)

  • The accumulation of points within the specific time period will result in disciplinary action as indicated below: Note: If infractions occur while operating a school bus, penalties will be elevated to the next level; Example: If the penalty is a Documented Verbal Reprimand it will become a Written Reprimand, a Written Reprimand will be a 3 day suspension.

  • Verbal Reprimand may be skipped if conditions warrant a more severe action.

  • In the event the Fire Chief contemplates disciplining an employee at a level higher than a Verbal Reprimand, he shall give written notice of hearing within fifteen (15) calendar days after he has knowledge of the fact(s) which give rise to the disciplinary action, or, with reasonable diligence, should have acquired such knowledge.

  • A Verbal Reprimand must be served within ten (10) workdays of the City having gained knowledge of the infraction.

  • In the event an employee is reduced in rank or compensation, has a written reprimand included in the assessment file, is disciplined, discharged, terminated, or otherwise separated, such employee shall be given the reasons therefore in writing with the exception of a Verbal Reprimand.
