When time and circumstances reasonably permit, requests for exceptions to the minimum rank qualifications or promotion eligibility criteria will be reviewed under the procedures set out in § 13A.5. For new faculty and for promotions, the Board will consider only those faculty unit members who, in the judgment of the Board, have demonstrated that their level of performance or professional qualifications are notably excellent and sufficient to offset the lack of a required degree or years in rank.
