Y-Rating definition

Y-Rating is when an employee remains at the constant salary (receives no COLA increases) until salaries for that classification rise to meet that employee’s salary.
Y-Rating. In cases of demotion necessitated by layoff or reclassification, the salary of an incumbent employee will not be decreased, but will remain at the employee’s prior level until the regular salary of the new classification reaches the employee’s prior level.

Examples of Y-Rating in a sentence

  • A Y-Rating status must be approved by the EO and the Board of Directors.

  • Y-Rating refers to a position which has been reclassified to a position having a lower salary range.

  • Annually, the WCCAA Executive Directors will meet with the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources to evaluate how the Y-Rating process is working.

  • The amount of the base wage increase will be the difference between two and one-half percent (2.5%) and the amount of the employee’s Y-Rating prior to the salary schedule increase.
