Cost Controller
⮚ Job Summary :
Reporting to the PMO Specialist, the Cost Control Officer will have the responsibility for leading the cost control and financial control support of R&D Projects (PTVI). The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing and forecasting project costs, as well as developing, preparing and collecting cost data for status reports for the PMO for review.
⮚ Major Accountabilities :
• Responsible for leading the overall cost control support for the PMO.
• Will have excellent working knowledge with the use of Cost Management databases on Projects. The use of the PRISM database software and the use of SAP will be an asset.
• Creating and managing detailed project information related to cost.
• Support the Project Scheduling team with setting up, tracking and analyzing consultants and contractors man-hours and associated costs within Vale’s performance management system.
• Reporting project cost to management team for internal reviews, as well as analyzing cost variances and recommending corrective actions to the projects.
• Responsible for reviewing the budget development and project cash flow and cost control from the projects during the development to ensure the project objectives are delivered.
• Support/Review of the application of the Project Change Management procedures.
• Issue budget updates and project cash flow. Prepare forecasts, cost trend reports and monitor cost and budget forecasts.
• Liase with project team to ensure all project tasks are identified and resource needs are properly estimated for the project.
• Assisting and reviewing the development and implementation of project baseline budgets, cost flows and cash flows.
• Supporting the Scheduler/Planner with the set up and allocation of project budget according to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) at the appropriate WBS levels for project tasks.
• Reviewing project scope change and change order requests for proper justification, cost impacts, and adequate budget and funding.
• Coordinating with the Project Document Controller to ensure all deliverables related to the contract were received before proceeding with invoice payments.
• Ensuring that relevant cost management procedures and reporting requirements are incorporated where appropriate.
• Ensure VALE’s policies on Budget and Cost Control are being
respected and implemented during the execution of the project.
• Review project accounting information and set up the required transfers between XXXX'x business units.
• Support the management team on ensuring project’s adherence to
the approved budget.
• Perform ongoing review of the Project’s cost reports and supporting information in the project’s SAP.
• Continuous Improvement and updates of the Project Delivery System for the cost sections.
⮚ Ther knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors needed to perform this position :
• 3+ years of cost control experience, preferably in an project environment on light to heavy industrial or mining projects.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent knowledge of engineering controls, cost control, project accounting and project reporting.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Highly organized individual, strong accounting skills, and documentation management.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment, effective communicator, problem solving skills. Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment.
• Continuous improvement approach to getting things done and a track record of improving things.
• Knowledge of procurement/contracts, construction management, scheduling and document control.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Word, EXCEL and PowerPoint

Document Controller
⮚ Job Summary :
• Document control is a high level records management functional role for project and must liaise with the related Department to ensure that Operational and Project records are maintained according to the requirements.
• The Document Controller will be responsible for both project and Operational records, the effective set-up and running of the document control functions for the project site, and has technical overwrite of Document Controllers.
• The incumbent will be required to assume the responsibility for the training of project team members, and managing of the document control function. The incumbent must be able to lead the team to establish Effective and efficient documentation creation, management, flow, transactions and deliverables in electronic format. Furthermore, the incumbent will be auditing, monitoring and ensuring the effectiveness of procedures including; the coordination of communications, interfacing with remote team members and external contractors, and implementing operating procedures in a milestone oriented environment.
⮚ Major Accountabilities :
• Provide day to day technical mentorship to other relevant Document Controllers. The Senior Document Controller has 3+ years of experience in document control and uses her experience to provide day to day guidance on specific tasks to other members of the team
• Provide Confidential document retrieval services to Senior Management, Contracts and Legal teams. Point of contact for special projects and document gathering for legal claims, litigation, etc. High level of confidentiality required.
• Provide technical document control and direction to construction contractors and ensure compliance to Vale standards. Leads document control kick-off meetings with contractors and contract managers.
• Provide development and oversight to document control standards, processes and work instructions – Although this is a team effort, it requires an owner to keep aligned and updated.
• Primary document control trainer for all project users. This has added complexity since there are three document control systems in place, each with a specific application and a very large number of new users requiring training and technical support, which is primarily provided by the Senior Document Controller

Project Planner
⮚ Job Summary :
Provide planning and monitoring project schedules in coordination with Technical Experts, Project Leader and Project Manager in order to ensure project schedules and cost are aligned with corporate target related to RnD (FEL) projects
⮚ Major Accountabilities :
• Support the project management team in the planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of projects, including dashboard project and project schedules data to ensure project consistency and optimization.
• Responsible for ensuring that all standard procedures and systems for project planning and scheduling are followed, per Vale's Project Delivery System (PDS).
• Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the planning and scheduling functions across all work locations and ensuring the schedules are integrated into one EPC/M schedule.
• Update and integrate multiple schedules into a master project schedule, base line, status, and perform measurement baseline.
• Prepare, implement, and monitor scopes of work using Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for control and integrity.
• Monitor projects’ progress, including identifying critical activities and
reviewing forecasts and progress achieved to date.
• Monitor and coordinate material planning required for the overall project to control and monitor theuse of material comply with the requirement and effectively.
• Work in collaboration with project management team to drive consistency of the project schedulingapproach to facilitate accuracy in project execution and reporting.
• Has excellent knowledge of Primavera P6 and provides overview and expert advice for the use of Primavera and Microsoft Project on the projects.
• Performs regular quality checks and signs off on project schedules.
• Reviews contracted 3rd party work plans and schedules for accuracy, thoroughness and completion.
• Provide training for Vale scheduler/planners on Primavera and on the PDS project scheduling guideline.
• Has a very good understanding of Earned Value Management and ensures that the projects apply proper methodologies for measuring and reporting project progress and performance metrics.
• Ensure continuous improvement and updates to the scheduling PDS procedures, as required.
• Prepare and coordinate with the various operations and support units to ensure timely and accurate cost data is available for preparation of cost reports
⮚ Specific Technical Competencies
• Strong communication skills – written and verbal;
• Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications;
• Proficiency in the use of project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS project;
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Experience 5 – 7 years.
