Huurvoorwaarden, belangrijk om door te nemen

Bij het huren van een auto of camper sluit je een huurcontract af met de verhuurmaatschappij. Dit contract is onderdeel van onze reisovereenkomst. Dat betekent dat u ook aan de voorwaarden van de verhuurder gebonden bent. Het is belangrijk deze door te nemen. Bij het ophalen van de auto of camper dien je deze immers te ondertekenen in het huurcontract. Zo zijn er altijd uitzonderingen op de dekking van de verzekering, gebeurtenissen die niet vallen onder het afgesproken eigen risico, restricties aan de route of wegen die mogen worden bereden, kosten in geval van boetes, etc.

Op de eerste 2 pagina’s benadrukken we een paar belangrijke voorwaarden en instructies. Op de volgende pagina’s vind je de Engelstalige samenvatting van de voorwaarden van de verhuurmaatschappij zelf.

Wij raden aan om de voorwaarden goed door te nemen. Mochten er vragen over zijn, dan zijn wij graag bereid hier uitleg over te geven.

Verzekering van de camper

Huurauto’s en campers zijn verplicht WA verzekerd, dat is altijd inbegrepen.

Heb je gekozen voor de ‘Stress Free Insurance’ dan is de “Liability Reduction Option” verzekering

inbegrepen. Dat betekent een verlaging van het eigen risico tot NUL.

Maar let op: er zijn altijd uitzonderingen die niet gedekt zijn. Zie daarvoor de uitgebreide huurvoorwaarden van Spaceship hieronder.

Budget camperhuur

Spaceships is een budget-camperverhuurder waarbij oudere modellen auto/minibus omgebouwd worden tot een budget campervan. Je dient rekening te houden met een voertuig van enkele jaren tot soms wel 15 jaar oud, met een nieuwer, maar 'gebruikt' interieur en mogelijk een groot aantal km.'s op de teller. De campers worden goed onderhouden en zijn mechanisch in orde.

Leeftijd bestuurder / passagiers

Let op: minimum leeftijd 18 jaar. Let op: kinderzitje / ‘boosterseat’ is tot 8 jaar verplicht

Rijbewijs

- Je dient tenminste 1 jaar in het bezit te zijn van je rijbewijs.

- Internationaal rijbewijs verplicht: De Nieuw-Zeelandse verhuurbedrijven accepteren het huidige model Nederlandse rijbewijs (formaat bankpas). De Nieuw-Zeelandse overheid is hier echter minder duidelijk over. Deze eisen een vertaling in de Engelse taal. Nu staat er niet veel, maar wel enige Nederlandse tekst op het rijbewijs. Om mogelijke verwarring en boetes met lokale overheidsinstanties, bijvoorbeeld de politie, te voorkomen raden we aan een internationaal rijbewijs van de ANWB aan te schaffen. Deze kost ongeveer

€ 19,- en is 1 jaar geldig (neem pasfoto en het geldige rijbewijs mee).

Walkabout is niet aansprakelijk voor eventuele boetes als de klant zonder Internationaal rijbewijs reist.

Spaceships Camping App

Deze gratis app geeft je alle informatie die je nodig hebt tijdens je reis met de camper. De app kan je downloaden in Google Play en de App Store.

In de app vind je o.a.:

- Informatie over campings onderweg, ook de gratis en goedkope campings.

- Informatie over de locatie van de verhuurdepots, maar ook de dichtstbijzijnde benzinestations, vuilwater dump locaties, supermarkten, pinautomaten, etc..

- Accommodaties in de buurt

- Special Deals & Wifi Hotspots

Transfers van en naar het depot

Bij een huur van 21 dagen of meer: gratis transfer van de airport of stadscentrum naar het verhuurdepot. In alle andere gevallen zijn transfers niet inbegrepen. Je kunt het beste een taxi nemen vanaf de luchthaven of je hotel. Bij het inleveren van de camper zal de verhuurder een taxi voor je bellen indien gewenst.

Tolwegen Nieuw Zeeland

Nieuw Zeeland kent 3 tolwegen, namelijk een stuk van 7,5 km. xxx xxx xx. 0 xxx xxxxxxx van Auckland, en 2 snelwegen (15 en 5 km.) bij de plaats Tauranga. De tol op deze wegen kan alleen maar elektronisch worden betaald. Je kunt dit vooraf regelen op onderstaande website, maar pas nadat de auto is opgehaald. Route beperkingen:

De volgende wegen mogen niet bereden worden:

Skippers Canyon Road near Queenstown, Ball Hutt Road near Mt Cook and 90 Mile Beach in Northland

Boetes, administratiekosten, tolwegen:

Nagekomen boetes voor verkeersovertredingen dienen te worden betaald per creditcard. De boetes wordt door Spaceships verhoogd met NZ$ 30 administratiekosten. Dat geldt ook voor boetes wegens onbetaald gebruik van de tolwegen.

Problemen, pech of vragen onderweg

Neem altijd direct contact op met Spaceships als je pech hebt, schade, noodzakelijke reparaties of klachten onderweg, dan kunnen ze je zo goed mogelijk helpen.

This document contains a brief summary of our rental conditions. The full details of our rental contract do apply. Rates and terms & conditions are subject to change.

Rates include

• Extra driver fees.

• Unlimited kilometers.

• 24 hour roadside service.

• Maps and campground guides.

• Bedding and cooking equipment.

• 15% Goods and Services Tax (GST).

• Excess is only frozen NOT DEDUCTED.

• Free guidebooks to the North and South Islands.

• Vehicle goes on the ferry for the price of a car.

• Standard insurance (excess applies, see information under the heading “Liability Reduction Options”)

HOW DO THE SPACESHIPS FLEX RATES WORK?

Distribution of rates

Flex rates will be emailed out every Friday and will be valid from each following Monday to Sunday inclusive.

Booking Amendments

All amendments to bookings are subject to availability. Different rates may apply based on the amendment made. Amendments prior to the vehicle collection date will be re-calculated by using either the original flex rate or the flex rate that is valid at the time of the booking change.

This applies to the following situations:

• Change of vehicle type

• Change of date and/or location for vehicle pick-up or drop-off

LIABILITY REDUCTION OPTIONS

We recommend travelling with complete peace of mind. You have travelled along way so why let the unknown risk spoiling your holiday in New Zealand.

This is why we have created the Stress Free Insurance - now you can travel with complete peace of mind from only NZ$30 extra per day. Applies to all Vehicles.

If someone else flicks a stone up and cracks the windscreen this will cost you from NZ$550 alone to replace! The cover provided by each reduction option is set out below. No means not covered and yes means it is covered.

If you just want to risk it there is a standard liability of NZ$3000. See below charts.

Normal Opening Hours

Auckland:

MON – SUN 9:00 – 17:00 – (1 April – 31 May and 1 October – 31 March)

MON – SAT 9:00 – 17:00 – (1 June – 30 Sept)

Christchurch:

MON – SUN 9:00 – 17:00 – (1 April – 31 May and 1 October – 31 March)

MON – FRI 9:00 – 17:00 – (1 June – 30 Sept)

Due to the impact of Covid 19 normal opening days and times may vary. With our free after hours service we can however operate remote pick up and drop off 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

After hours service

This is a FREE service available when requested. It enables travellers to pick up and drop off when ever it suits them best. For example if their flight arrives at night they can still collect a Vehicle that evening.

All branches are closed on 25th December and 1st January. After hours pick up and drop off is still available on these days.

RENTAL DURATION

The minimum rental for return hires is 5 days. (1 November to 31 March: 10 days)

ONE WAY RENTALS

One way rentals are available subject to the minimum rental periods. There is no one way fee.

The minimum rental for one way rentals is 10 days. (1 November to 31 March: 14 days)

Rental Extension

If the customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Spaceships New Zealand who will advise the additional costs. Rental extension is subject to fleet availability. The extra cost (Gross Rate) of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone or at a Spaceships New Zealand Branch immediately on confirmation of the rental extension.

Whilst on hire if the customer decides to extend their rental duration and/or change their rental dates where possible the day rate as per the rental agreement will be charged. However Spaceships New Zealand reserve the right to increase the day rate subject to availability.

Failure to obtain authorisation will result in the renter being charged additional late fees.

The Guidebooks are unique to Spaceships and offer extra value beyond price to help provide your customers the best experience possible. We issue these via email at the time of vehicle collection.

Our free Travel App provides current information on where to camp and all the latest road changes and services around the country. This can be downloaded on Android and Apple devices.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Transfers

Vehicles must be collected from and returned to our depots ONLY. Transfers to and from the Spaceships depot are not included in the rental price. It is the renter’s responsibility to get to and from the branch.

We can arrange a taxi at a fixed cash price of NZ$40 from the depot to the airport.

Transfer Special for all hires 21 days or more:

Spaceships New Zealand provides a free airport or central city transfer TO OUR DEPOT ONLY for hires 21 days or more.

Payment at branches

Spaceships will only accept credit card, debit card or cash for rental charges. The bond / excess on the vehicle is only payable at pick-up by credit card.

Credit Cards

We accept Visa and MasterCard. Visa and MasterCard will incur an additional 2.5% surcharge on any transaction.

Driver’s License and Minimum Age

A valid and current unrestricted or probationary motor vehicle driver’s license (learner’s permits are not acceptable) is required from the country of origin. If the driver’s license is not in the English language then an international driver license is also required. The driver’s license must be valid for the whole length of the rental.

Drivers must be 18 years of age or over.

Vehicle demonstration and show through

On pick up of the vehicle the renter will be provided with a demonstration on the vehicle features. The renter will need to sign a release form approving the vehicle and its contents at this time.

Travel Restrictions

All vehicles can only be driven on roads where they are covered by our insurance. There are three exclusions being Skippers Canyon Road near Queenstown, Ball Hutt Road near Mt Cook and 90 Mile Beach in Northland. Any breach of this clause will be seen as a breach of contract and Spaceships New Zealand reserve the right to seek any fees for damages and recoveries over and beyond any excess or bond.

Change of Drop-off Destination

If the renter wishes to change the drop-off destination after the rental has commenced, they first must obtain authorisation from the Spaceships Head Office. The change of return location is subject to availability. If you return to a different location to that on your Rental Agreement a NZ$700 relocation fee will apply for all Vehicles.

Repairs

Although our vehicles are maintained & serviced to high standards it may happen that small repairs are required during the rental. Any expenditure on the vehicle needs prior approval from Spaceships Head Office. All vehicles are provided with 24hr emergency mechanical roadside assistance.

Infringements and Administration Fees

Spaceships reserve the right to charge the renter for any infringement and unpaid toll notices incurred during their possession of the vehicle and the renter agrees that Spaceships may charge such amounts to the renters’ credit card. The renter also agree to pay administration costs of NZ$30 per infringement and unpaid toll notice, which will be charged to their credit card provided at the time of hiring without further notice. The renter agrees that personal information provided to Spaceships in connection with the rental of the vehicle, including your credit card details, may be disclosed by Spaceships to a third party for the purpose of contacting you in relation to any infringement and unpaid toll notice incurred during your possession of the vehicle and for administration costs incurred by Spaceships. Change of Vehicle

Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost.

Voluntary Downgrade

Should the renter decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked within 14 days of pick up or during the rental then they will not be entitled to any refund.

Limit of Liability

In the event of no alternative vehicle being available to the renter our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge or in the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the renter) the remainder of the hire period.

Important

Spaceships New Zealand reserves the right to refuse any rental at our discretion.

Animals

Service dogs are permitted to travel in our vehicles with prior permission from Spaceships New Zealand. No other animals are permitted in our vehicles.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in our vehicles.

Cancellation Policy

The cancellation fees are

If cancelled prior to pick up: see the cancellation policy of yor travelagent.

If cancelled on the day of pick up or No Show: 100% of Gross Rental

If the vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever no refund is available for the unused portion of the rental.

Free Cancellation - In the event of a pandemic / force majeure event and boarder restrictions apply we will not apply cancelation fees.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that renters ensure they take out the highest level of Travel Insurance.

Personal Injury

The vehicle has third party personal injury insurance cover. It is likely that any other vehicle involved in an accident also has third party personal injury insurance cover. Depending on the circumstances of the accident, the renter may be entitled to claim for their personal injury against the third party insurance of the party responsible for the accident. Spaceships strongly recommend that all passengers take out their own Personal Injury Travel Insurance. It is not the responsibility of Spaceships New Zealand to seek any recovery from a 3rd party related to personal injury.

If the renter is responsible for the accident the vehicle’s third party insurance should cover the renter for the liability except where the renter has committed a breach of the Vehicle’s third party Insurance, e.g. drink driving.

Bond

For security purposes, only a credit card can be used to provide a bond. The credit card holder must sign for the bond before vehicle collection. The credit card holder is jointly liable for any damage to the rental vehicle.

All Vehicles

You authorise us to hold a bond in the amount of NZ$3000 (“Bond”) on your credit card at the commencement of the Rental Period. You authorise us to use the Bond to cover insurance excess costs (and any incidental costs) as a result of any accident during the Rental Period. The bond amount will be deducted from your credit card if you are involved in an accident whilst using the Vehicle. The bond will be released when the Vehicle is returned provided no damage has occurred. The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded to you if we are successful in recovering the costs of the damages from the third party. You acknowledge that you must pay for anything not covered by insurance or the Bond.

Please note: The excess is only frozen NOT DEDUCTED.

Full Responsibility

At all times the renter is responsible for:

• Damage caused where the terms of the Rental Contract have been breached

• Damage caused by negligence

• Damage caused to the vehicle in any way by part or total water submersion or salt water

• Damage caused to the vehicle by the renter’s willful conduct

• Damage caused to the vehicle when using the vehicle in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic

• Damage or loss caused to any belongings

• Damage caused due to use of incorrect or contaminated fuel
