Huurvoorwaarden, belangrijk om door te nemen
Bij het huren van een auto of camper sluit je een huurcontract af met de verhuurmaatschappij. Dit contract is onderdeel van onze reisovereenkomst. Dat betekent dat je ook aan de voorwaarden van de verhuurder gebonden bent. Het is belangrijk deze door te nemen. Bij het ophalen van de auto of camper dien je deze immers te ondertekenen in het huurcontract. Zo zijn er altijd uitzonderingen op de dekking van de verzekering, gebeurtenissen die niet vallen onder het afgesproken eigen risico, restricties aan de route of wegen die mogen worden bereden, kosten in geval van boetes, etc.
Op de eerste pagina’s benadrukken we een paar belangrijke voorwaarden en instructies. Op de volgende pagina’s vind je de Engelstalige samenvatting van de voorwaarden van de verhuurmaatschappij zelf.
Wij raden aan om de voorwaarden goed door te nemen. Mochten er vragen over zijn, dan zijn wij graag bereid hier uitleg over te geven.
Verzekering van de auto
Huurauto’s zijn verplicht WA verzekerd, dat is altijd inbegrepen.
In onze huurtarieven van AVIS is de “Super Zero” verzekering inbegrepen. Dat betekent een verlaging van het eigen risico tot NUL. Maar let op: er zijn altijd uitzonderingen die niet gedekt zijn. Zie daarvoor de uitgebreide huurvoorwaarden van AVIS hieronder.
Roadside Assistence Cover.
Een ‘Mechanical Breakdown Assistence’ is inbegrepen voor mechanische problemen aan de auto.
Niet inbegrepen is een uitgebreide ‘wegenwacht service. Deze ‘Roadside Assistence Cover’ kun je bij het ophalen van de auto afsluiten (ongeveer A$ 5,50 per dag, max A$ 110). Dan ben je o.a. gedekt voor opladen lege accu, hulp bij lekke band, vervanging sleutels en belangrijker voor sleepkosten tot 100 km. naar de dichtstbijzijnde garage.
PLS toeslag - Location Surcharge
Bij het ophalen van de auto op een luchthaven depot en bij enkele stads-depots wordt een zgn. ‘PLS: Premium Location Surcharge’ geheven over de huurprijs.
Bij onze AVIS tarieven is deze PLS toeslag inbegrepen in de huurprijs. Als er extra’s zijn die ter plaatse moeten worden afgerekend, zoals een ‘one way fee’ of huur kinderstoeltjes en er is op dat depot sprake van een PLS toeslag, dan wordt die toeslag ook over deze extra items gerekend. De PLS toeslag is een % dat afhankelijk van het verhuurdepot varieert van 5 tot 33%.
Leeftijd bestuurder / passagiers
Let op: minimum leeftijd 21 jaar. Voor de SUV’s en 4WD’s is de minimum leeftijd 25 jaar. Let op: kinderzitje / ‘boosterseat’ is tot 8 jaar verplicht
Rijbewijs: Je dient tenminste 1 jaar in het bezit te zijn van je rijbewijs.
- Internationaal rijbewijs aan te raden: De Australische verhuurbedrijven accepteren het huidige model Nederlandse rijbewijs (formaat bankpas). Uitzondering: bij ophalen in The Northern Territory (Xxxxxx, Xxxxx Springs, Xxxxx Rock) is een Internationaal rijbewijs verplicht. De Australische overheid is hier echter minder duidelijk over. Deze eisen een vertaling in de Engelse taal. Nu staat er niet veel, maar wel enige Nederlandse tekst op het rijbewijs. Om mogelijke verwarring en boetes met lokale overheidsinstanties, bijvoorbeeld de politie, te voorkomen raden we aan een internationaal rijbewijs van de ANWB aan te schaffen. Deze kost ongeveer € 19,- en is 1 jaar geldig (neem pasfoto en het geldige rijbewijs mee).
Walkabout is niet aansprakelijk voor eventuele boetes als de klant zonder Internationaal rijbewijs reist.
Tolwegen Australië
Rond de steden Melbourne, Sydney en Brisbane zijn verschillende tolwegen met automatische tolpoorten (je wordt geflitst). De Tol-betalingen worden dan automatisch door AVIS betaald elke keer als een tolweg wordt gereden. Deze worden vervolgens van je creditcard afgeschreven mits je deze hebt doorgegeven aan LINKT, de tolinstantie. Meer informatie hierover krijg je bij het ophalen van de auto, en vraag er ook naar mocht het niet duidelijk zijn.
Navigatie
Alle Avis-voertuigen zijn voorzien van een scherm met Android Auto en Apple Car Play, waarmee je je mobiele telefoon kunt verbinden met het systeem van de auto. Navigeren kan dan door op je telefoon Google Maps of ‘Kaarten’ te gebruiken, de app waarmee je thuis ook op je telefoon de route en navigatie doet. De kaart verschijnt dan op het scherm van de auto en de stem via het luidsprekersysteem van de auto.
Hieronder staan een paar tips om goed te kunnen navigeren in Australië:
1. Off-Line navigeren zonder datagebruik (kosteloos)
Een offline kaart downloaden (bijv. in Google Maps), van het gedeelte van de regio en route die je de volgende dag / dagen gaat rijden. Doe dit van tevoren, thuis of in het hotel (met Wifi), al doen. Je kunt dan navigeren zonder dat je mobiele data nodig hebt/gebruikt. (let op dat je ‘data roaming’ uitstaat als je in Australië bent).
2. On-Line navigeren met een Australische pre-paid simkaart
Je kunt in Australië een simkaart kopen voor mobiele data. (handig als je een 2e reserve telefoon bij je hebt, of een telefoon waar 2 simkaarten in kunnen. Deze prepaid data simkaarten zijn vaak te koop op luchthavens, of in een telecomwinkel in de stad. Dan kun je op dezelfde manier je telefoon aansluiten, maar dan met data-roaming navigeren tegen lokale kosten.
We raden dit aan als je een wat langere huurperiode hebt of gewoon de beste navigatie wilt, omdat het zoeken naar adressen soms nauwkeuriger werkt dan bij een offline kaart.
Routebeperkingen 2WD auto’s
2WD auto’s: alleen asfaltwegen en goed onderhouden ‘gravel’ wegen zijn toegestaan. Gravelwegen zijn harde zandwegen, die mechanisch zijn afgevlakt ‘graded’.
Rijden op niet goed onderhouden onverharde wegen is niet toegestaan met de gewone 2WD personenauto’s. (De verzekeringen vervallen als hierbij schade ontstaat!).
Een auto mag niet worden meegenomen naar Tasmania of Fraser Island. Voor Kangaroo Island is een toestemming van de verhuurder noodzakelijk. Magnetic Island is toegestaan.
In de uitgebreide huurvoorwaarden van AVIS op de volgende pagina’s worden onder de kop: RESTRICTED DRIVING ROADS / AREAS, per staat bepaalde regio’s en wegen genoemd waar je niet mag rijden, of alleen met een schriftelijke toestemming van AVIS.
Routebeperkingen 4WD auto’s
Behalve de regels die voor een 2WD gelden mogen 4WD auto’s rijden op onverharde wegen, mits het een erkende route is, zgn. goed onderhouden zandwegen (‘gazetted roads’).
De Mereenie Loop, een populaire 4WD-route in de regio Xxxxx Xxxxxxx is toegestaan met een Full Size 4WD (Group W). Voor de populaire 4WD-route door de Kimberley Regio is voor de Gibb River Road vooraf toestemming van de verhuurder noodzakelijk. Zo zijn er meer zandwegen die aangevraagd moeten worden. In de uitgebreide huurvoorwaarden van AVIS op de volgende pagina’s worden onder de kop: RESTRICTED DRIVING ROADS / AREAS, per staat bepaalde regio’s en wegen genoemd waar je niet mag rijden, of alleen met een schriftelijke toestemming van AVIS.
Boetes, administratiekosten, tolwegen:
Nagekomen boetes voor verkeersovertredingen dienen te worden betaald per creditcard. De boetes worden door AVIS verhoogd met A$ 55 - A$ 66 administratiekosten. Dit geldt ook voor boetes wegens onbetaald gebruik van de tolwegen rondom de grote steden.
Problemen, pech of vragen onderweg
AVIS heeft een 24-uurs ‘Roadside Assistance’ telefoonnummer.
Neem altijd direct contact op met AVIS als je pech hebt, schade, noodzakelijke reparaties of klachten onderweg, dan kunnen ze je zo goed mogelijk helpen.

AVIS AUSTRALIA RATES 2024 - 2025 TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The Terms and Conditions in this document are in conjunction with the Avis Terms and Conditions of Standard Rental Agreement (Rental Agreement), referred to as “The Terms and Conditions”). Avis Australia reserves the right with notice to update the Terms and Conditions at such times where amendments are required. In the event of any inconsistencies between Rate Terms and Conditions in this document and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
RENTAL PERIOD
Rates are calculated on a 24-hour period (1 day). For additional hours, an extra day will be charged and is payable direct to Avis by The Renter. The rate and conditions applied to the total rental are determined by the date of rental commencement and the renting location.
Inclusive RATES
Avis Inclusive Rates are issued in Australian Dollars ($AUD) and available at selected Tour Programme participating locations in Australia.
Inclusive - AVIS Rate Inclusions:
• Vehicle Registration Fee (VRF): Applicable to all Australian Rentals. Included in Inclusive Rate.
• Administration Fee: Applicable to all Australian Rentals at a charge of approximately 3.5%. Included in Inclusive Rate.
• Goods & Services Tax (GST): Tax rate is 10%. Included in Inclusive Rate.
• Premium Location Surcharge (PLS) / Concession Recovery Fee (CRF): A varied fee, applicable for rentals from Airport and selected off-airport Locations. The fee may be calculated at up to 33% and is subject to change. Included in Inclusive Rate.
• Loss Damage Waiver (LDW): Subject to a damage excess (Standard Rates only). Please refer to the coverage options section of these Terms & Conditions. Included in Inclusive Rate.
In the event a customer purchases extra products and services at the rental counter additional fees will apply – Admin Fee, GST and Premium Location Fees (PLS/CRF), payable directly to Avis at the time of rental.
KILOMETRE ALLOWANCE
As defined on the Avis Australia Tour Programme Location Listing, the following kilometre allowance will apply:

VEHICLES
Vehicle types are given for descriptive purposes only and may vary by location. Reservations are confirmed by vehicle group and NOT by specific make or model. Not all vehicle groups are available at all locations.
DRIVERS LICENCE REQUIREMENTS
Avis Australia will rent to drivers that present a current driver’s licence; The Renter must have held the licence for 12 months. Avis Australia will not rent to any person on a Provisional or Probationary licence. If The Renters drivers licence is in any language other than English, it must be accompanied by an approved translation such as an International Driver Permit, issued in accordance with a United Nations Convention on road traffic. An international drivers permit is not a stand-alone document and must be carried with The Renters valid domestic driving licence.
COVERAGE OPTIONS
Loss Damage Waiver: Loss Damage Waiver is the coverage (included in the rates) provided on the rental vehicle and Third-Party Property, which is subject to the excess. Loss Damage Waiver is subject to the terms and conditions detailed on the rental agreement.
Inclusive Rates: When an Avis vehicle is involved in an accident, zero excess is applicable providing the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement and the laws of the state. Failure to adhere to the terms and conditions and laws of the state will result in The Renter being responsible for all damage and costs associated with the vehicle.
Please note: Subject to the terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement, the Loss Damage Waiver will not apply and The Renter must always pay to Avis the full cost of:
a) Overhead Damage or Underbody Damage (including, without limitation, damage which occurs if you come into contact with including, but not limited to, a bridge, a tunnel, a tree, or the roof or boom gate of a car park; or damage, including but not limited to, the exhaust systems, suspension and chassis caused by carelessly driving over gutters or kerbs or driving along poor quality roads at excessive speeds) which damage is not attributable to Fair Wear and Tear;
b) You driving the Vehicle in a manner that results in total or partial inundation or immersion of the Vehicle in water or exposure of the Vehicle to salt water including, without limitation, damage which occurs as a result of You driving the Vehicle through floods, creeks or rivers;
c) damage to the Vehicle caused by a breach of clause 3, 4.1, 5.1, 5.8 or 7.1 of the Avis Rental Terms and Conditions (save, in respect of clause 4.1(n), for minor infractions) by You;
d) damage to a tyre or an Accessory not attributable to Fair Wear and Tear that is caused deliberately or recklessly by You;
e) theft of the Vehicle, unless You report the Vehicle as stolen to the police immediately on becoming aware of the theft, provide full details of the theft and provide a copy of the police report to Avis as soon as You receive it; or
f) loss or damage to Your property, the property of a member of Your immediate family or of a person related to You or a person residing at Your premises if that loss or damage is caused by a breach of these Terms and Conditions by You.
(g) If the Vehicle is returned in an excessively poor condition (excluding Fair Wear and Tear) and/or if You or any other person has been smoking in the vehicle (in breach of clause 4.1 (i) of the Avis Rental Terms and Conditions); You may be required to pay the cost of any professional cleaning or odour extraction reasonably incurred by Avis and a reasonable administrative fee reflecting the cost of making arrangements for professional cleaning or odour extraction.
For the purposes of the above paragraphs (a) to (g), any reference to You refers to the Consumer Customer or Personnel (as applicable) with whom the Rental Agreement is made and includes an Additional Driver and any person the Renter or the Authorised Driver allow to drive the Vehicle.
For the avoidance of doubt, in the event of any inconsistencies between the Rental Agreement and the above paragraphs (a) to (g), the terms of the Rental Agreement will prevail.
AGE REQUIREMENTS
ICAR, SCAR, CFAR vehicles – Minimum 21 years of age FCAR, FVAR, IFAR, FFAR, PFAR – Minimum 25 years of age No maximum age applies.
ADDITIONAL DRIVERS
Avis Australia will provide one Additional Driver at no cost. Fees will apply to each individual additional driver (i.e. a third or fourth driver etc.)
• $5.50 per day, per additional driver
• Max charge of $38.50 inc GST per additional driver (5 day max charge)
• It is essential that proof of a valid driver’s licence is provided and that the additional driver signs the rental agreement.
ONE WAY RENTAL POLICY
All One Way rentals including those listed under One-Way Rental Policy Exceptions are provided “On Request” and subject to availability. “On Request” means supply of the requested vehicle is subject to confirmation by Avis (free sale does not apply).
One way fees are quoted including GST and will also attract an Admin Fee and PLS. One Way fees are additional to the rental charges and are payable direct to Avis by The Renter. Continuous rentals of a minimum rental duration of 72 hours (3 days x 24 hours) do not incur a One Way Rental fee unless noted below.
New South Wales (NSW), Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Victoria (VIC), Queensland (QLD), South Australia (SA)
One way rental fees are determined as per the table below, when renting between these States and Territories. Fees apply to rentals less than 72 hours (3 days x 24 hours) unless noted as an exception.

One Way Rentals – Into / Out of Northern Territory and Western Australia
A minimum rental duration of 7 days (7 X 24 hours) applies, and a non-waivable one way fee of $1,100.00 is applicable unless noted as an exception. One Way Rentals are only permissible on the following vehicles, IFAR, FFAR and PFAR, provided “On Request” and subject to availability.
Rentals commencing from specified Airport and downtown locations in Queensland, New South Wales, Australia Capital Territory, Victoria and South Australia may be driven one way into the Northern Territory and Western Australia and vice versa – see table below

One Way Rentals are also permissible from Perth, Karratha, Port Xxxxxxx, and Kununurra to and from Xxxxxx, Xxxxx Springs and Xxxxx Rock, provided “On Request” and subject to availability.
One-Way Rentals Within Northern Territory
A minimum continuous rental duration of 4 days (4 days x 24 hours/ 96 hours) is applicable for One-Way rentals commencing and returning within the Northern Territory and a one-way rental fee of $550 will always apply. One-way rentals are provided “On Request” and subject to availability.
One-Way Rentals Within Western Australia
A minimum continuous rental duration of 5 days (5 days x 24 hours) is applicable for One Way Rentals within WA and a one way fee will apply (see your quote, from $ 330 to $ 1100) unless noted and approved by Avis an exception. One Way rentals are provided “On Request” and subject to availability.
ONE WAY RENTAL POLICY- EXCEPTIONS:
Cairns / Port Douglas – No one way fee applies when renting between these locations.
Gold Coast / Brisbane / Sunshine Coast – No one way fee applies when renting between these locations.
Port Lincoln – One Way Rentals commencing from Port Lincoln are not allowed, the only exception being rentals between Port Lincoln and Adelaide. One Way Rentals from Port Lincoln to Adelaide require a minimum 5 day length of rental, and a one way fee of $440 will apply.
Limited KM’s of 100km per day apply to all rentals starting in Port Lincoln.
Tasmania
One way rentals within Tasmania do not incur a one way fee. One way rentals into or out of Tasmania are not permitted.
One-way rentals are provided “On Request” and subject to availability.
Perth/Exmouth One Way Special – 01 April – 30 November (EXCEPTION)
Vehicles rented for 7 days (7 x 24 hours / 168 hours) or more from Perth to Exmouth/Learmonth within the period 01 April – 30 November will incur a one-way fee of $440.00 Vehicles rented for 7 days (7 x 24 hours / 168 hours) or more from Exmouth/Learmonth to Perth within the period 01 April – 30 November will incur a one-way fee of $440.00
Eligible vehicle groups for the Per/Exmouth one-way special are:, CFAR, IFAR and PFAR
All eligible vehicles are provided “On Request” and subject to availability
All Learmonth Airport (LEA) rentals will incur a $77.00 surcharge for collection and drop off of vehicles. This charge is subject to change without prior notification.
RESTRICTED DRIVING ROADS / AREAS
The below detailed driving restrictions apply to rentals on Avis Tour Rates. Should the Avis vehicle be driven over the restricted roads / areas detailed below, or on the Rental Agreement, Coverage options are void. Vehicle hire is subject to satisfactory road and weather conditions at all times.
General
The vehicle must only be used on roads that are properly formed and constructed as sealed, metalled or gravel roads (unless the road is for access to recognised accommodation grounds). All vehicles, including vehicle groups IFAR & PFAR, cannot be driven on beaches or through streams, dams, rivers or floodwaters.
Vehicles rented from Mainland Australia may not leave the Mainland and be taken to Tasmania or any other island unless authorised in writing by Xxxx.
There are a number of roads in Northern Territory and Western Australia that are access roads to Aboriginal communities, driving is not permitted in these areas without an approved permit.
DRIVING IS FORBIDDEN IN EACH STATE AS FOLLOWS:
IN QUEENSLAND
i) On Highway No. 27: beyond Chillagoe in a westerly direction
ii) On Highway No. 1: beyond Normanton in a southerly direction and no further north than Karumba
iii) Beyond Cooktown to the north or Lakeland to the west
iv) On the coastal road north of Cape Tribulation
IN NEW SOUTH WALES
i) Above the snow line; being Jindabyne, from the beginning of June until the end of September
IN VICTORIA
i) Above the snow line; being Bright, from the beginning of June until the end of September
IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA
i) On the Kalumburu Rd, Tanami Rd, Canning Stock Route, Gunbarrel Hwy and Holland Track
ii) On Broome-Cape Leveque Rd, Bungle Bungles, Karijini National Park and Windjana Gorge unless the vehicle is a four-wheel drive

RESTRICTED DRIVING ROADS / AREAS CONTINUED…
Driving through the Northern Territory and Western Australia - FCAR, IFAR and PFAR only.
Note that this does not apply to one way rentals that have been confirmed under the “One Way Rentals – Into / Out of Northern Territory and Western Australia” section of these terms and conditions. When rented from Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and South Australia, FCAR, IFAR and PFAR can only be driven through the Northern Territory or Western Australia and vice versa during the dry season months April to November. Should assistance be required during this time it may not be possible. Should other vehicle categories be driven into the Northern Territory or Western Australia, or through the Northern Territory or Western Australia coverage options will be void. It is essential that Avis are advised that rental commencement of the Avis vehicle will be driven through the Northern Territory or Western Australia so coverage options can apply. Standard coverage option restrictions will apply.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Should the current tax legislation, State or Federal, be revised, or Avis’ operating costs increase due to the introduction of any tax revisions, Avis reserves the right to amend all charges. Frequent Flyer / Traveller points are not applicable to rentals on Tour Rates.
Miscellaneous Charges
Vehicle Registration Fee, Administration Fee, Concession Recovery Fee or Premium Location Surcharge, one-way rental fees and related terms and conditions, kilometre charges, petrol deposit and tax are subject to change at any time. Avis will use all reasonable endeavours to provide notification of any changes as soon as possible.
Roadside Assistance: Avis will provide 24 hour roadside assistance for all inherent mechanical faults (as reasonably determined by Avis or its authorised repairer) at no additional cost provided that the fault does not arise as a result of any unauthorised use of the Vehicle in breach of clauses 3 or 4.1 of the Avis Rental Terms and Conditions (save, in respect of clause 4.1(n), for minor infractions).
For each roadside assistance call out for a fault or incident caused by The Renters act or omission (including, but not limited to emergency refueling up to an amount required to reach the nearest petrol station), a tyre-related incident (unless The Renter has purchased Windscreen and Tyre Protection), Electric Vehicle battery recharge, lost keys, keys locked in the Vehicle, or a flat battery due to lights or other electrical equipment being left on, The Renter will be charged the Roadside Callout Fee, unless The Renter has purchased Roadside Assistance Cover.
Roadside Assistance Cover does not apply if the Vehicle has been used in breach of clause 3 or 4.1 of the Avis Rental Terms and Conditions (save, in respect of course 4.1(n), for minor infractions) or in respect of any additional amount(s) payable under clauses 8.1 and 8.2.
Roadside Assistance Cover IS NOT included in the Inclusive Rate programs.
Optional Charges
Pricing quoted includes GST, but optional charges including one-way fees may also attract an Administration Fee and PLS.
Child Safety Seats, and any other additional products purchased at time of rental are subject to change and are payable directly to Avis at the time of rental. Avis will use all reasonable endeavours to provide notification of any changes as soon as possible.
Child Safety Seats / Child Booster Seats – Available on request at a rate of $16.50 per day, to a maximum charge of $88.00 per rental.

Tolls
There are a number of toll motorways in Australia, these located in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. All motorways in Australia have electronic toll points (no toll booths). All renters must provide a valid debit or credit card at time of pick up to enable our partner Linkt to directly charge the applicable service fee and toll fee to The Renters cards. For further information please refer your customer to the Avis standard Terms and Conditions of Rental or to an Avis Rental Sales Agent on collection of their vehicle.

Deposits
All rentals are subject to a deposit at the time of vehicle collection to cover miscellaneous/optional charges and may also have to cover the applicable excess and a $100.00 fuel bond. A credit or debit card is required. Avis Australia accepts all major credit cards. Debit cards will be accepted if they meet the following requirements: Be issued by a recognised bank, Display the Visa or Master Card logo and hologram, Display the Cardholder Name and Display the Card Number. Avis does not accept Prepaid and Reloadable Debit Cards as well as Travel Cards and EFTPOS cards. Avis does not accept electronic payments with phones or contactless tap and go payment types, The Renter must present a physical card.
The amount of the deposit is not debited to the card at rental collection; an authority only is taken until the conclusion of the rental when any applicable charges will be debited. All renters must provide a credit card or approved debit card to enable LINKT to directly charge their applicable service fee and toll fee.
When paying by credit or debit card, a card transaction fee will apply of 1.29% (including GST) of the total rental invoice amount.
AVIS AUSTRALIA TOUR RATES 2024 – 2025 EXCEPTIONS TO TERMS AND CONDITIONS
In addition to the Terms and Conditions provided with the Avis Australia Tour Rates, the below exception applies:
Queensland – Kangaroo Island
Vehicles are permitted to be taken to Kangaroo Island, when rented from the following locations: Sydney Airport, World Square (Sydney), Melbourne Airport, Adelaide Airport, Franklin St – Melbourne City or Adelaide City only.
Any Renter travelling to Kangaroo Island or considering travelling to Kangaroo Island should mention this to our staff member at the rental counter.
Avis does allow travel to Kangaroo Island, but does require the renter to acknowledge the change to our terms and conditions regarding this at time of rental.
1. In the event breakdown of the ferry, adverse weather conditions or any other event preventing the Ferry Services from operating, The Renter will remain responsible for the Vehicle and all associated costs (including Vehicle retrieval from the Island) up until the Vehicle is returned to the relevant Avis location.
2. Due to the large amount of nocturnal wildlife on Kangaroo Island, use of the Vehicle between dusk and dawn is not allowed. Customers are advised to plan ahead. The Renter agrees this is a Prohibited Use as referred to in clause 3.2 of the Avis Terms and Conditions of Standard Rental Agreement;
3. In the event of a Vehicle accident or Vehicle breakdown that requires an Avis replacement Vehicle, The Renter will be responsible for all additional costs including Ferry and Towing cost associated to such services.
4. Under no circumstances will Avis cover and be responsible for any additional expenses The Renter may incur due to delays in returning the Vehicle including, but not limited to, costs associated to flights, food and accommodation or any other expense occasioned by any delays.
5. Please note that Excess Reduction option does not cover ‘Overhead damage’, ‘Underbody damage’ or ‘Water Damage’.
6. Use of the Avis Vehicle to, from and on Kangaroo Island and use of the Ferry Services, is at The Renter’s own risk.

Renter(s): means the person(s) with whom the Rental Agreement is made and; any Authorised Driver (as defined in the Avis Rental Terms and Conditions) All other definitions take their meaning as listed in the Avis Rental Terms and Conditions
AVIS AUSTRALIA TOUR RATES 2024- 2025 EXCEPTIONS TO TERMS AND CONDITIONS
In addition to the Terms and Conditions provided with the Avis Australia Tour Rates, the below exception applies:
Northern Territory & Western Australia – Gibb River Rd
When renting a vehicle into or out of Western Australia, the vehicle (PFAR - Group W) must be operated in 4WD mode, under 80kms/hr when not being driven on a properly formed and constructed as a sealed, metalled or gravel road.
When rented from Kununurra or Darwin only, PFAR – Group W (operated in 4WD mode) is allowed to travel on xxx Xxxx River Road in a westerly direction as far as El Questro Wilderness Park, Home Valley Station and Ellenbrae Station. Travel in the direction of Derby beyond these points is on request, and requires prior written approval from Avis.
When rented from Broome or Perth, any travel along xxx Xxxx River Rd in an easterly direction is on request, and requires prior written approval from Avis. Requests will be limited to PFAR – Group W (operated in 4WD mode).
All travel in these areas is prohibited outside 1 April to 31st October.
Travel in these areas is subject to satisfactory road & weather conditions and advise from the rental location. It is recommended that vehicles are not driven between the hours of Dusk & Dawn.
Please note that due to the remote nature of the area and its access limitations, breakdowns and accidents can be difficult to attend and it may take greater than 24 hours for an agent to attend a call out.
1. In the event of an accident and/or breakdown that requires a replacement vehicle, the Renter will be responsible for all associated costs including towing for the replaced and retrieved vehicle.
2. Under no circumstances will Avis cover and be responsible for any additional expenses The Renter may incur due to delays in returning the Vehicle including, but not limited to, costs associated to flights, food and accommodation or any other expense occasioned by any delays.
3. Please note that Excess Reduction option does not cover ‘Overhead damage’, ‘Underbody damage’ or ‘Water Damage’.
4. Use of the Avis Vehicle on xxx Xxxx River Road is at The Renter’s own risk..
Violation of the above may void the rental coverage options.
