HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS. The District will assign certificated teachers with preference toward teachers with experience in early childhood development and P- 3 endorsement in all District SPP classrooms. The District will require SPP teachers to have or obtain their P-3 endorsement within three (3) months of assignment.
HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS. When a bargaining unit member is requested by the Board to pursue additional certification, the Board shall pay related expenses for pursuit of this additional certification, inclusive of tuition, textbooks, and any related lab or equipment fees. HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS. The termhighly qualified” teacher, for the purpose of this collective bargaining agreement, refers to a teacher who meets the specific requirements established by the reauthorized Federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) signed in January 2002. The District shall make every effort to assign employees so that they can remain “highly qualified.” If an employee is not currently “highly qualified” in the area of his/her assignment(s), the District will, when a vacancy exists, transfer the employee to an alternative assignment in which the employee will be “highly qualified” if the District determines that such action is necessary for the District to avoid penalties under the ESEA. If a teacher is placed in an assignment where he/she is not considered “highly qualified,” the District may require the teacher to make efforts to become “highly qualified” within a mutually agreeable timeline. If the teacher chooses to take the qualifying exam, the District will pay for the fees for the first exam in each subject area. If the exam, when taken for the first time, actually has two different tests, the District pays for both tests.
HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS. Incentive for teachers to acquire after their time of hire, additional Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status in the core content areas of math and/or science for middle school or high school levels. One time stipend of $1,500 for passing the Praxis for math and/or science at the middle school or high school levels for a teaching assignment above K-5, for teachers who hold a Teacher of the Handicapped Certificate. This provision does not apply to those teachers who hold a Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certificate.
HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS. The School agrees to hire ―highly qualified‖ teachers to teach core academic subjects pursuant to Section 1119(a) and 9101(23) of ESEA, as reauthorized by No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. The act defines ―core academic subjects‖ as English, reading or language arts, mathematics, science, foreign languages, civics and government, economics, arts, history, and geography. Until school-level compliance is required, this School will develop an individualized Class Size Reduction Plan (Accountability Plan) for use of class size reduction funds and to measure progress toward meting school-level compliance. The School will be expected to develop their plans in conjunction with the Sponsor and work closely with the Sponsor’s finance officers and MIS directors.
