Reasons for Leave. Family Care and Medical Leave may be granted for reason of the birth of a child of the employee, or the placement of a child with an employee in connection with the adoption or xxxxxx care of the child by the employee. If the leave is taken for any of these reasons, the leave must be concluded within twelve (12) months of the birth, the adoption, or the xxxxxx care placement of the child. In addition, leave may be granted because of the serious health condition of a child of the employee, the employee's own serious health condition, or the care of a parent or spouse who has a serious health condition.

Reasons for Leave. FMLA may be granted for the following reasons: • The birth of the employee’s child and in order to care for the newborn child; • The placement of a child with the employee for adoption or xxxxxx care; • To care for the employee’s spouse, child, or parent who has a serious health condition; • An employee’s own serious health condition that prevents the employee from performing one or more of the essential functions of his/her job. Serious health conditions may include conditions resulting from job-related injuries and/or illnesses; or • Due to a qualifying exigency arising when an employee’s spouse, son, daughter, or parent is a military member on covered active duty or has been notified of an impending call to covered active duty.
