Seniority Status and Lists. 2.1 The right of promotion of employees in the various groups specified in the schedule of wages appended hereto and forming part of this Agreement shall extend over the entire Telecommunications system and shall be governed by merit, fitness, and ability. Where these are sufficient, the senior employee shall be given the preference.

Seniority Status and Lists. 11.1 Employees shall accumulate seniority from the date of last entry into the service on a position covered by this Agreement. Employees will remain on the seniority list providing they have performed some actual work for the Corporation within twenty-four (24) months from the first day of compensated service and any period of twenty-four (24) consecutive months thereafter or are on authorized leave of absence (i.e. illness, injury, Union leave, WCB and others); otherwise, the employee will forfeit his seniority, his name will be removed from the seniority list and his employment with the Corporation will be terminated. The period of twenty-four (24) months will commence after the weekly layoff benefits terminate. If the affected employee wishes to maintain his seniority they must so notify the Department Director, or his designate, in writing prior to the completion of the 24 month period. This period will be extended for a further 12 months. If no actual work is performed by the employee for the Corporation within the further 12 month period, the employee then will forfeit their seniority, their name will be removed from the seniority list and their employment with the Corporation will be terminated.

Seniority Status and Lists. The right of promotion of shall extend over the entire Railway and shall be governed by merit, fitness, and ability. Where these are sufficient, the senior shall be given the preference. When an employee is offered an official or other position by the Railway not covered by this schedule, it is not obligatory on to accept. If does so and an understanding is reached between and the of Passenger Services, or Chief Transportation Officer, as applicable, confirmed through the Chief Xxxxxxx, may retain rights to the position previously held for a period of six months. If remains in such official or other position beyond six months, previous position will be bulletined at once, but may retain standing on the seniority list. The assignment held by an employee granted leave of absence to act as a full-time representative of the employees will, subject to the approval of the President, be protected during periods of such leave, but during this period the employee concerned will be allowed to bid on other positions. If an employee is granted leave of absence from the Railway, concurred in by the Chief Xxxxxxx, for a period of six months or less, may retain position for that period. If leave of absence is extended beyond six months, position will be bulletined vacant at once and may retain seniority for an additional six months after which loses all rights.
