Broken shifts A Lutheran School Officer may be rostered to work ordinary hours in a broken shift, that is a rostered shift in two periods of duty, exclusive of breaks, per day, with a minimum payment (other than for a casual) of two hours for each period of duty.
Broken shifts may be worked, but shall be completed within 12 hours computed from starting to finishing time, including meal hours.
The employee is reimbursed for the costs of traveling back and forth from home to work in case of: - Broken shifts with an interruption of more than 2 hours; - A call during a standby duty shift; - Overtime at hours other than regular working hours; - On-site standby duty at hours other than regular working hours; - Meetings starting later than one hour after the end of regular working hours.
Broken shifts A “broken shift” is a single shift worked by an employee that includes 1 or more breaks other than a meal break or a rest break, and where the span of hours is no more than 12 hours.
Broken shifts may not be worked in more than two separate periods, with each period being no less than two hours duration.
Provided that the employee is employed continuously (inclusive of public holidays) for five shift Monday to Friday, the following rates will apply: ▪ Afternoon and night shift – ordinary time plus 50% ▪ Morning and early afternoon shifts – ordinary time plus 25% ▪ Broken shifts (ie less than five consecutive shifts Monday to Friday) - ordinary time plus 50% for the first two hours and double ordinary time rates thereafter.
Broken shifts do not include an employee accepting an offer of additional hours that is separate from his/her rostered hours.
Broken shifts (clause 14.6) $18.36 per week; and $3.32 per shift.
Broken shifts shall be completed within 11 hours and where practicable within 10 hours, from the time of first signing on to the final time of signing off duty.
Broken shifts can only be worked by mutual agreement between the employer and the individual employee.
