ACTING RANK. 18.01 When a Member performs the duty of a higher-ranking Officer/Supervisor in charge of a shift, in any one-contract year, the Member's rate of pay will be at the rate of the higher position. The record of this time will be kept on file with the Chief of Police and the total accumulated time will be paid out on or before the fifteenth (15) day of December each year.

ACTING RANK. 34.01 Acting Rank In the event that a Sergeant in charge of the Divisional Platoon is absent the senior constable on duty on the Platoon shall be assigned as Acting Sergeant. In the event that a second sergeant is assigned to the Divisional Platoon, the senior constable shall not be assigned as Acting Sergeant unless both sergeants are absent.
ACTING RANK. 7. (1) Where a Member has been directed by the Chief of Police of the Xxxxxxxx Police Service to perform, on a temporary basis, duties of a higher rank, the Member is to be paid the normal rate of pay of such higher rank for each period or periods that the Member performs at any time such duties.

The selection of employees to act in such higher positions shall at all times be at the discretion of the Chief, or Deputy Chiefs, in accordance with the Promotional Policy.

ACTING RANK. 22.01 Each employee who is required to act in the capacity of a higher rank, shall be paid at the rate of such higher rank for each complete shift or part thereof which he so works. In the context of this Article, a shift shall mean eight (8) hours, ten (10) hours, twelve (12) hours or fourteen (14) hours, as the case may be.
ACTING RANK. 22.01 Each employee who is required to act in the capacity of a higher rank, shall be paid at the rate of such higher rank for each complete shift or part thereof which he so works. In the context of this Article, a shift shall mean ten (10) hours, fourteen (14) hours, eight (8) hours or twelve (12) hours, as the case may be. Notwithstanding the above, effective February 1, 2005, the Acting Communications Officer will be paid the rate of 112.5% of a 1st Class Fire Fighter rate. Once the Joint Communication Centre (JCC) is fully operational and conditional upon the JCC becoming fully operational, the Acting Communications Officer rate will increase to 115% of a 1st Class Fire Fighter rate. The assignment to Acting Communications Officer shall only occur when the Assistant Division Chief of Communications is not scheduled to work.
ACTING RANK. 31.01 Any member assigned to perform the duties of a higher rank shall receive the pay of such higher rank for the total number of hours worked at the higher rank. The hours shall be accumulated and submitted quarterly for pay, at the rate difference between the members pay and the higher ranks pay. (Members assigned acting rank duties will be required to fulfill the duties of the higher rank as outlined in Police Service Policy.) (It is agreed by the parties to this agreement that Article 31.01 becomes effective May 1, 2008.)
