Acting Status. 66:01 Where the Employer directs an employee employed in one (1) position to temporarily take over the duties and responsibilities of some other position having a higher grade of pay, and provided the employee takes over and continues to perform for ten (10) or more consecutive working days the duties and responsibilities of that other position, the employee shall be appointed temporarily to that other position with acting status and shall be paid at the rate of pay for that other position from the date of taking over the duties and responsibilities of that other position until the temporary appointment is revoked. Upon the temporary appointment being revoked the employee shall, unless appointed or promoted to some other position, revert to the employee’s original position and be paid at the rate of pay for the employee’s original position that the employee would be paid if the employee had never held the temporary appointment. 66:02 For purposes of interpretation of this Article, “duties and responsibilities” means the duties and responsibilities that would have been performed by the incumbent during the period in which the incumbent had been replaced. 66:03 Where an acting status appointment to a position within the bargaining unit will exceed twelve (12) continuous months, ANCR will notify the Union of the reasons. A meeting may be held to discuss the matter at the request of the Union.
