Additional Headers Sample Clauses

Additional Headers. There are a number of headers that were previously used/cited in the GMI2004 SIP IAs that are not defined in IMS or that have been defined subsequently to the IMS release 7. The headers are discussed below:- ▪ Diversion – This header contains information relating to call forwarding and was defined in an expired individual IETF draft that has been extensively implemented and is thus become a de- facto standard. It is typically set up by an AS (that is performing forwarding) and is commonly used on voice mail platforms. This header is included in this only for reasons of backwards compatibility to previous MSF profiles and thus a MSFR3 entity MAY support this header. However, it is RECOMMENDED that this header be deprecated and replaced by the History- Info header (see below). ▪ History-Info – This is a standard header (RFC 4244) which was defined to convey the “history” of a session – e.g. whether the call was forwarded. Therefore, it is functionally aimed at the same problem space as the Diversion header. This header SHOULD be supported in MSFR3 in preference to the DIVERSION header. ▪ Resource-Priority – This standard header (RFC 4412) was defined to enable SIP entities to adjust behavior to provide priority treatment for marked sessions. This header SHOULD be supported by the following MSF R3 entities :- SIP user agents (both IMS-aware & basic), proxies (S- SBG's, P-CSC's, I-CSC's) call agents (MSF CA's, S-CSC's), service brokers, application servers (Parlay Gateways, AS's), bandwidth managers, and signaling gateways :- o SIP user agents can request priority treatment by incorporating the RPH in a SIP Invite or by dialing a special access number. o Proxies MAY provide special handling, such as priority queuing, for messages that include this header. Whether or not they provide special handling, proxies MUST pass the RPH into the outgoing messages. Proxies involved in admission control decisions SHOULD provide the means to communicate the data contained in the header to the bandwidth manager in the Diameter Reservation-Priority AVP. o Call agents MAY provide special handling, such as priority queuing, for messages that include this header. Call agents SHOULD be able to trigger to an application server based on the presence of this header or based on the dialed number. Whether or not they provide special handling, CAs MUST pass this header through into outgoing messages. o Service brokers MAY provide special handling, such as priority queuing, for messages...
