Common use of Appeal to Chief Clause in Contracts

Appeal to Chief. Ifthe grievance is not settled at Step 1, and the grievant and/or the Council wishes to appeal the decision to Step 2, the grievance shall be submitted in writing to the Chief of Police within ten (10) calendar days after receipt of the response at Step 1. The grievance shall set forth the facts and circumstances and shall state the reason for believing that the grievance was improperly denied at Step 1. The Chief of Police shall then investigate the grievance and may hold a discussion with the involved parties if he deems it necessary. The Chief shall respond to the grievance, in writing, ten (10) days after its receipt.
