Common use of Appointment of Arbitrators Clause in Contracts

Appointment of Arbitrators. The party or parties requesting arbitration shall serve upon the other a written demand therefor specifying the matter to be submitted to arbitration, and nominating an arbitrator. Within 20 days after receipt of such written demand and notification, the other party shall, in writing, nominate a competent disinterested person and the two arbitrators so designated shall, within ten days thereafter, select a third arbitrator and give immediate written notice of such selection to the parties and shall fix in said notice a time and place for the first meeting of the arbitrators, which meeting shall be held as soon as conveniently possible after the selection of all arbitrators, at which time and place the parties to the controversy may appear and be heard.
