Common use of Appointment Rate Clause in Contracts

Appointment Rate. Except as otherwise provided herein, all new employees, whether full or part-time, shall be compensated at the minimum rate of the salary range in effect for the class in which the appointment is made. The City Manager may authorize appointment of new employees at a higher rate in the salary range in effect when it is determined that there is a direct and measurable benefit to the City for such appointments. Factors to be considered include: The quality and quantity of the appointee's previous training and experience; the difficulty recruiting qualified, experienced applicants; and a determination that the performance of the appointee has a significant impact on City or departmental programs and policies.
