Common use of Approval of Shop Drawings and Other Submittals Clause in Contracts

Approval of Shop Drawings and Other Submittals. The Contractor shall review, approve, and submit to the Architect Shop Drawings, Product Data, Samples, and other Submittals required by the Contract Documents for approval by the Architect prior to their implementation. The Contractor shall perform no portion of the Work requiring submittal and review of these or similar data until approved by the Architect. Such Work shall be accomplished in accordance with approved Submittals. The Contractor shall not submit any shop drawing or other submittal that is merely a tracing or other copy of any of the Contract Documents. Each submittal item must be prepared by the Contractor, or for the Contractor by a Subcontractor or Supplier of the Contractor. The Architect shall have the authority to reject any submittal items that violate this provision, and no extension of Contract Time shall be given on account of such rejection.
