Avoiding Improper Entertainment and Gifts. As a general rule, business courtesies may be provided or received if they are ordinary and customary under the circumstances and of modest value. The following courtesies are never permitted; cash or cash equivalents (such as gift cards), gifts or entertainment that may tarnish the reputation of Buyer, and gifts, meals or entertainment that are provided to prevent the recipient’s ability to act in the best interest of his or her company.
