Common use of Backfill Clause in Contracts

Backfill. Non-budgeted costs accrued as a result of backfill of assigned personnel or those personnel on R & R as a result of assignment are potentially reimbursable. Reimbursable costs are those costs incurred when a backfilling employee’s pay rate exceeds the base rate of the individual on assignment. The backfill amount is calculated by subtracting the assigned employee’s regular pay rate from the backfilling employee’s overtime pay rate. DFFM will reimburse the difference in the two rates up to the rate of the top step of the rank of the individual on assignment. Backfill costs above the top step of the rank of the individual on assignment will not be reimbursable.
