Birthday Holidays Clause Samples
The Birthday Holidays clause grants employees the right to take a day off from work in celebration of their birthday. Typically, this clause outlines whether the day off must be taken on the employee's actual birthday or can be scheduled flexibly within a certain period, and may specify if the day is paid or unpaid. Its core function is to provide a personal benefit that can boost employee morale and satisfaction by recognizing and accommodating individual celebrations.
Birthday Holidays. With supervisory approval, an Employee may elect to float his/her birthday to any regularly scheduled workday within the calendar year in which the birthday falls except for Sunday, a day of vacation or a recognized PLANT wide holiday.
(1) Employees will be asked in order of seniority to schedule their birthday Holiday prior to any vacation scheduling each year.
(2) Employees who choose not to float their birthday Holiday and elect to take the day of their birthday off, will have preference over any employee floating the Holiday or scheduling a split day of vacation.
(3) If an Employee elects not to schedule the birthday Holiday floater prior to vacation scheduling, the birthday Holiday will not take preference over vacation days but will be granted on a first-come first-served basis. The birthday Holiday will be given consideration along with any late vacation requests.
(4) If the Employee’s birthday falls during a scheduled week of vacation, the Employee may reschedule the extra vacation day at some other time during the calendar year following established split vacation guidelines.
(5) Employees will observe their birthday Holiday on the day selected. In emergency situations, however, an Employee’s birthday Holiday may be granted or changed with approval of Area Supervision prior to the start of the shift during which the Holiday was to be celebrated.
Birthday Holidays. Employees whose birthday falls on another recognized holiday may select another day besides their birthday on which to celebrate with the mutual consent of their supervisor.
Birthday Holidays. The Birthday Holiday (the actual day taken off) will count as time worked for the computation of overtime eligibility. It is understood by the parties that since there is flexibility in the scheduling of this particular Holiday, that an employee is not entitled to premium payment just by the fact of working on his/her actual Birthday.
Birthday Holidays. If in 2016, 2017 and 2018 the Employee's birthday occurs on a day when the mine or other facility at which he is employed works, the Employee has the option of taking his birthday off and receiving holiday pay, or he has the option of working on his birthday and receiving time and one-half for all time worked plus holiday pay. If an Employee's birthday falls on any day on which he is not scheduled to work, including but not limited to February 29 or on any other scheduled holiday or during the vacation period, or on a Sunday (if on a traditional schedule), he may designate another day to celebrate his birthday holiday by electing one of the following:
(1) designating another day to be off (and taking off such day) within the first ten (10) days of actual work by the Employee following the birthday holiday for which he shall be entitled to holiday pay or
(2) designating another day to work (and working such day) within the first ten (10) days of actual work by the Employee following the birthday holiday for which he shall be entitled to time and one-half for all time worked on that day plus holiday pay.
