Common use of Calculation of Service for Vacation Clause in Contracts

Calculation of Service for Vacation. Each year of service shall consist of twenty-six (26) bi-weekly pay periods as calculated from the first day of the pay period following the day on which the employee commenced County service, unless said service commenced on the first working day of the pay period, in which case, years of service shall be calculated from the day that the employee commenced County service. Paid sick leave, paid military leave, or other forms of leave with pay shall be counted in years of service. Any employee absent from his duties without pay for more than sixteen (16) hours in a pay period shall neither accrue vacation leave for that pay period nor have the pay period counted for the purpose of calculating length of service.
