Child Development Center Employees. The work week and workday for Child 26 Development Center teachers shall be as follows: 28 1. Full-time CDC teachers shall be employed for eight (8) hours a day, inclusive of 29 thirty (30) minute duty-free lunch period, preparation time, and breaks. The teacher 30 shall have three hundred (300) minutes of program preparation per week as directed 31 by the coordinating teacher for purposes approved by the CDC manager. 32 33 During the program preparation, the teacher shall be in such physical proximity to 34 the children that his/her presence may be applied to the state-mandated teacher-child 35 ratio. In addition, the teacher shall have a duty-free fifteen (15) minute rest break for 36 each four (4) hour period worked. Exceptions shall be allowed for field trip days and 37 emergencies as determined by the coordinating teacher. 38 39 2. Teachers working an eight (8) hour split-shift (two separate shifts at one or more site) 40 do not have a thirty (30) minute paid lunch period nor is travel between sites 41 accomplished on duty time. Teachers working an eight (8) hour split-shift 42 assignment receive one additional amount (Schedule H). 43 44 3. Part-time employees shall work the number of hours specified in their employment 45 contracts. Any employee working four (4) hours or more shall have a fifteen (15) 46 minute break for each four (4) hours of employment and a planning period prorated 1 from the three hundred (300) minutes per week of a full-time employee in ratio to the 2 number of hours employed. During the program preparation period, the teacher shall 3 be in such physical proximity to the children that his/her presence may be applied to 4 the state-mandated teacher-child ratio. Any teacher working a six (6) hour day shall 5 have a thirty (30) minute duty-free lunch period included within the six (6) hour day. 6 7 4. The work schedule in each center shall be prepared by the Coordinating Teacher in 8 consultation with the teaching staff and approved by the CDC program manager 9 responsible for the site. The Coordinating Teacher shall include provision for make- 10 up time in the schedule if the major portion of a teacher's rest break, lunch period or 11 program preparation period is interrupted by unanticipated activities related to the 12 site program. 14 5. Coordinating Teacher duties will be mutually agreed upon by Coordinating 15 Teacher/Program Coordinator and the Director. 16 17 6. Coordinating Teacher assignments at more than two sites with more than three 18 programs will not be scheduled without first consulting with the Association 19 regarding the necessity for such assignment. 20
