Common use of CHROMEBOOK USAGE AGREEMENT Clause in Contracts

CHROMEBOOK USAGE AGREEMENT. As the Suring Public School District moves forward in our one-to-one initiative of getting technological devices to each student, questions arise regarding the Chromebooks. It has not been the district’s policy to allow Chromebooks to go home, except under certain circumstances. Administration reserves the right to change this policy at any time if it is deemed appropriate, such as happened with the Covid-19 emergency school closure. The district is implementing a service plan fee for use policy. Service Plan Fee for Use: o $10 maintenance cost per student for Elementary and Middle School, grades 2-8 o $25 maintenance cost per student for High School, grade 9-12 ▪ Payment is required for the start of the school year ▪ Family cap (based on free/reduced application) - $50 ▪ Payment plan can be set up for families with more than two students o Fee will be prorated ▪ Full fee if student/students start during First Semester ▪ Half is due if student/students start during Second Semester o Assigned Chromebook will not be handed out to student and student will need to use computer lab if fee is not paid It is the district’s intention for students to keep the device at end of their senior year starting with the Class of 2020, for an additional $25 fee payment (assuming all fees have been paid). There have been costs associated with the Chromebooks due to either student misuse or carelessness. The district recognizes that sometimes accidents happen, such as a student dropping a Chromebook.
