The Class Coverage Pay clause establishes additional compensation for employees who are required to temporarily assume the duties of a higher classification or position. In practice, this clause ensures that when an employee covers for an absent colleague in a more senior role, they receive pay that reflects the higher responsibilities, typically for the duration of the coverage period. Its core function is to fairly compensate employees for extra work and responsibility, thereby promoting equity and incentivizing flexibility within the workforce.
Class Coverage Pay. When a substitute is not available, and a Teacher is requested to substitute for the absent Teacher, compensation will be granted at the rate of $35 per hour. The minimum length of time for which additional pay is granted will be fifteen (15) minutes.

Class Coverage Pay. 9.2.6.1 Unit members who are assigned to cover a class period during their conference/preparation period shall be paid Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per period as additional compensation.
9.2.6.2 Any unit member who desires to be considered first when class coverage is needed may sign up with Human Resources at any time during the school year. These unit members will be listed on a roster and GPA will consider them for coverage duty on a rotating basis subject to schedule and suitability prior to assigning the coverage to a unit member not on this roster. Any unit member can be called upon to provide coverage when necessary and will be obligated to cover the assigned period. The frequency of coverage will depend on teacher absences and student and operational needs.
Class Coverage Pay. 1. For the 2010-2011 2011-2012 school year, regularly appointed classroom teachers who agree to cover other teachers’ classes during their preparation periods at the request of the principal will be paid at an hourly rate of $30.00, in addition to their regular pay. This rate will be annually adjusted using 80% of the current year’s average teacher salary divided by 1387.5 hours, rounded to the nearest half dollar.
2. If a building splits a teacher’s class between two (2) or more teachers for more than sixty (60) minutes, then each of the covering teachers will be paid at the same hourly rate as in section XIV.D.1.
Class Coverage Pay. Any time a Bargaining Unit Member is directed to cover a class that Bargaining Unit Member will be compensated at $36.00 per class coverage. Pay for class coverage, when appropriate, will be made within the next two (2) pay periods following the coverage(s).
1. There shall be no class coverage payments except for:
a. lunch;
b. preparation time;
c. when coverage is necessary because the employee is pulled for professional development/training; or
d. when coverage is necessary because a vacancy has been created due to a separation from employment for any reason (i.e., resignation, retirement, dismissal).
2. The School District shall take all reasonable steps and actions to increase the number of “permanent substitutes” assigned to elementary schools from the current ten (10) to fifteen (15). Permanent substitutes shall not be part of the collective bargaining unit.
Class Coverage Pay. 10.7.1 On occasion, site admin may request unit members to cover a class when there is no available qualified substitute or qualified non-unit staff member. Coverage includes splitting up a class between two (2) or more unit members.
10.7.2 Volunteers will be sought first before assignment of a unit member.
10.7.3 Assignment of unit members for coverage shall first be done on a volunteer- basis, followed by a rotating basis based on a schedule determined by DCP, with input from unit members which will include all eligible staff on campus.
10.7.4 Unit members who are assigned to cover a class period during their conference/preparation period shall be paid $80 per period.
10.7.5 Any unit member can be called upon to provide coverage when necessary and will be obligated to cover the assigned period.
