Common use of Committee on Standards-Related Measures Clause in Contracts

Committee on Standards-Related Measures. 1. The Parties hereby establish the Committee on Standards-Related Measures, comprising representatives of each Party, pursuant to Annex 9.10. 2. The Committee's functions shall include: (a) monitoring the implementation, enforcement and administration of this Chapter; (b) considering any specific matter relating to the standards-related and metrology-related measures of the other Party or any other related measures, whenever a Party has any doubts on the interpretation or application of this Chapter, including the provision of non-mandatory technical advice and recommendations; (c) facilitating the process by which the Parties make compatible their standards-related and metrology-related measures; (d) providing a forum for the Parties to consult on issues relating to standards-related and metrology-related measures; (e) fostering technical cooperation activities between the Parties; (f) enhancing cooperation on the development and strengthening of standardization systems, technical regulations, conformity assessment procedures and metrology systems of the Parties; (g) reporting annually to the Commission on the implementation of this Chapter; (h) facilitating the process of negotiating agreements for mutual recognition between the Parties; and (i) establishing sub-committees as deemed necessary and determining the scope of action and mandate of such sub-committees. 3. The Committee shall meet as mutually agreed but not less than once a year. The meetings may also be held by telephone, video conference or other means, upon the agreement of the Parties.

The Committee's ’s functions shall include: (a) monitoring the implementation, enforcement compliance and administration of this Chapter; (b) considering any specific matter relating to the standards-related and metrologyparticular matters on standardization-related measures and measurement systems of the other Party or any other measures related measuresthereto, whenever when a Party has any doubts on questions regarding the interpretation or application of this Chapter, including the provision of in order to provide technical advice or non-mandatory technical advice and binding recommendations; (c) facilitating the process by which the Parties make compatible their standards-related measures and metrology-related measuresmeasurement systems; (d) providing a forum for the Parties to consult on issues relating to standards-related measures and metrology-related measuresmeasurement systems; (e) fostering promoting technical cooperation activities between the Parties; (f) enhancing cooperation on helping to develop and strengthen the development and strengthening of standardization systemsstandardization, technical regulationsregulation, conformity assessment procedures and metrology measurement systems of the Parties; (g) reporting annually to the Commission on the implementation application of this Chapter; (h) facilitating the process negotiation of negotiating agreements on mutual recognition; (i) on the request of a Party, evaluating and recommending to the Commission for mutual recognition between approval, the Partiesinclusion of specific services sectors or subsectors in Annex 8-01, such inclusion to be made through a decision of the Commission; and (ij) establishing relevant sub-committees as deemed necessary and determining the scope of action their activities and mandate of such sub-committeesmandate. 3. The Committee shall meet as mutually agreed but not less than at least once a year, unless the Parties otherwise agree. 4. The meetings may also Parties establish a Telecommunications Standards Sub-Committee comprised of representatives of each Party. The Sub-Committee’s functions shall be held by telephoneto: (a) develop a work programme, video conference or other means, upon the agreement within twelve months of the Partiesdate of entry into force of this Agreement, including a timetable, for making compatible to the greatest extent possible, the standards-related measures of the Parties for authorized equipment as defined in Chapter 12 (Telecommunications); (b) address other matters respecting the standardization of telecommunications equipment or services and such other matters as it considers appropriate; and (c) take into account relevant work carried out by the Parties in other fora, and that of non-governmental standardizing bodies.
