Common use of Contractor as Independent Contractor Clause in Contracts

Contractor as Independent Contractor. 8.3.1 Notwithstanding anything contained herein to the contrary including, without limitation, the provisions of Section 22.2 hereof, it is specifically understood and agreed that in the performance of the terms, covenants and conditions of this Contract, the Contractor its Subcontractors and Representatives shall not be deemed to be acting as agents, servants or employees of the Owner or the City by virtue of this Contract or by virtue of any approval, permit, license, grant, right, or other authorization given by the City or the Owner or any of their respective Representatives in connection with this Contract, but shall be deemed to be independent contractors performing construction work and services for the Owner, and shall be deemed solely responsible for all acts taken by them pursuant to this Contract.
