Court Activity. Stand-By Court Pay -Standby court pay will be granted to employees who are not scheduled to work those hours and received a subpoena to appear in court which was later canceled. The employee shall receive two (2) hours pay at time and one-half (1 1/2) times his/her regular rate of pay. Employees who receive at least three hours advance notification of the cancellation shall not be entitled to receive stand-by court pay. Each employee scheduled for a court time shall be required to check their County E-mail or contact by phone during business hours the Civil Department to determine if notice of cancellation was given. Failure to follow the established procedures will result in the employee not being eligible to receive such standby court pay.

Court Time Pay - Employees required outside of their normal work hours to appear in Court as a result of their employment during regular or overtime work hours in any civil or criminal matter, including all subpoenas, shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1 1/2) their regular hourly rate of pay at a minimum of three (3) hours, unless the employee is scheduled to be on duty during any part of the time he or she is in court, in which case he or she will be paid for actual hours worked over the regularly scheduled tour of duty at a rate of time and one-half their regular rate of pay. Employees required outside of their normal work hours to appear in court cases scheduled outside the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit as a result of their employment in any civil or criminal matter, including all subpoenas, shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1 1/2) their regular hourly rate of pay at a minimum of three (3) hours which shall include a reasonable amount of travel time.

  • Outside Activity A. Although an employee may, in accordance with Article 19, Conflict of Interest/Outside Activity, engage in outside activity, including employment, pursuant to a consulting agreement, requirements that an employee waive the employee's or University's rights to any work or inventions which arise during the course of such outside activity must be approved by the President or representative. B. An employee who proposes to engage in such outside activity shall furnish a copy of this Article and the university's patents policy to the outside employer prior to or at the time a consulting or other agreement is signed, or if there is no written agreement, before the employment begins.

  • Political Activity Prohibited None of the funds, materials, property or services provided directly or indirectly under the Agreement shall be used for any partisan political activity, or to further the election or defeat of any candidate for public office.

  • Competitive Activity Executive shall be deemed to have engaged in "Competitive Activity" if, during the period commencing on the date hereof and ending on the second anniversary of the date Executive's employment with the Company or its subsidiaries terminates, (i) Executive, for himself or on behalf of any other person, firm, partnership, corporation, or other entity, engages, directly or indirectly, as an executive, agent, representative, consultant, partner, shareholder or holder of any other financial interest, in any business that competes with the Company or its subsidiaries in the line of business Executive is employed in by the Company or its subsidiaries (as applicable), as such business is described in any employment or severance agreement then in effect between Executive and the Company or one of its subsidiaries or, if no such agreement is then in effect, as described on Schedule II attached hereto (a "Competing Business"), it being understood and agreed that Executive's activities shall not satisfy this clause (i) where Executive is employed by a person, firm, partnership, corporation, or other entity engaged in a variety of activities, including the Competing Business, and Executive is not engaged in or responsible for the Competing Business of such entity. Executive may also, without satisfying clause (i) be a passive owner of not more than 2% of the outstanding publicly traded stock of any class of a Competing Business so long as Executive has no active participation in the business of such entity, except to the extent permitted above; or (ii) Executive (A) directly or indirectly through another entity, induces or attempts to induce any employee of the Company or its subsidiaries to leave the employ of the Company or its subsidiaries, or in any way interfere with the relationship between the Company or any of its subsidiaries and any employee thereof, (B) knowingly hires any person who was an employee of the Company or any of its subsidiaries within 180 days prior to the time such employee was hired by Executive, (C) induces or attempts to induce any customer, supplier, licensee or other business relation of the Company or any of its subsidiaries to cease doing business with the Company or its subsidiaries or in any way interfere with the relationship between any such customer, supplier, licensee or business relation and the Company or any subsidiary or (D) directly or indirectly acquires or attempt to acquire an interest in any business relating to the business of the Company or any of its subsidiaries and with which the Company or any of its subsidiaries has entertained discussions or has requested and received information relating to the acquisition of such business by the Company or its subsidiaries in the one-year period immediately preceding Executive's termination of employment with the Company.

  • Competitive Activities During the term of this Agreement, Consultant will not, directly or indirectly, in any individual or representative capacity, engage or participate in or provide services to any business that is competitive with the types and kinds of business being conducted by Company.

  • Actions We May Take if You Engage in Any Restricted Activities If we believe that you’ve engaged in any of these activities, we may take a number of actions to protect PayPal, its customers and others at any time in our sole discretion. The actions we make take include, but are not limited to, the following: • Terminate this user agreement, limit your account, and/or close or suspend your account, immediately and without penalty to us; • Refuse to provide the PayPal services to you in the future; • At any time and without liability, suspend, limit or terminate your access to our websites, software, systems (including any networks and servers used to provide any of the PayPal services) operated by us or on our behalf, your PayPal account or any of the PayPal services, including limiting your ability to pay or send money with any of the payment methods linked to your PayPal account, restricting your ability to send money or make withdrawals; • Hold your money to the extent and for so long as reasonably needed to protect against the risk of liability. You acknowledge that, as a non-exhaustive guide: • PayPal’s risk of liability in respect of card-funded payments that you receive can last until the risk of a chargeback closing in favour of the payer/buyer (as determined by card scheme rules) has passed. This depends on certain factors, including, without limitation:

  • Illegal Activity No portion of the Property has been or will be purchased with proceeds of any illegal activity.

  • Prohibited Activity Subrecipient is prohibited from using funds provided herein, or personnel employed in the administration of the program, for: political activities, sectarian or religious activities, lobbying, political patronage, and nepotism activities.

  • EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES 1. In this Agreement, extra-curricular programs and activities include all those that are beyond the provincially prescribed and locally determined curricula of the school district. 2. The Board and the Association consider it desirable that teachers participate in extra-curricular activities, and recognize that participation in extra-curricular activities by the individual teacher is on a voluntary basis.

  • Civic Duty Whenever an employee is served with a subpoena by a court of competent jurisdiction which compels his/her presence as a witness during his/her normal working period, unless he/she is a party to the litigation or an expert witness, such employee shall be granted time off with pay in the amount of the difference between the employee's regular earnings and any amount he/she receives for such appearance. This Article is not applicable to appearances for which the employee receives compensation in excess of his/her regular earnings. A court of competent jurisdiction is defined as a court within the County in which the employee resides or if outside the county of residence, the place of appearance must be within 150 miles of the employee's residence.
